'70 Camaro sub frame factory markings help

I am completing the resto of a '70 Camaro sub frame and can not find any info on typical factory inspection markings. Yes, I have checked nastyz28.com and other sites but, unless i missed something, found nothing. Can anyone help?

Check with Chuck Sharin (CamarosRus). Jack Seymour (Jacsey 70Z) has a survivor lo mile '70 Z (he has chronicled his beauty with a ton of photos), and go to Charlie Lillards new web site 1970 Z28 , he's got some great photo chronology of his 1100 mile survivor beauty. I think this car will be at the MCACN show too. Also, I'll bet Mike Greenwalt (AZcamaro) has looked into this too as he is finishing up his '71 Z Camaro.

Thanks Sam, I'll be at the show so maybe I can get a close look at Charlie's car.

70+ Camaro Subframe dating has been discussed several times and recently at www.nastyz28.com in the ORIGINAL Forum. (Sorry, short on time to post direct link, Please search in Orig Forum). I repeat no conclusion was reached on plant location lettering code.

Below Picture shows month, day & year stamping. The N has never been confirmed as standing for Norwood as other Letters have been found for other frame mfg locations.

Stamping has nothing to do with VIN and nastyz28 conclusion is for numbers/mfg date only. We think the number after the letter is the day shift (1) or night shift (2).

I thought the same thing Chuck but now I am wondering. Joe are you looking for paint dabs? I thought you knew about the date codes already.

The picture above shows drivers, outside at rear. You can easily see rear end of frame.

I have never seen, read or heard of paint dabs on a 70 Camaro frame.

Please educate me as to where and what this is all about ??

I did not know if the '70s sub frame had paint markings or not, that's why I was asking. Wondered if the steering gear box cover had a mark, cotter pins, etc. as some of the earlier GM caars.

I'd suggest redoing marks that you find. Looks better than adding restoration graffiti. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif
