Saginaw Steering Box Color

Does anyone happen to know what color or finish a manual Saginaw steering box would have been from the factory for a 1969 Chevelle? I have heard that it should be "natural" in finish and I have heard that they came with some sort of dark blue/gray finish. Please help!! Thanks a lot.

The general rule of thumb is natural cast grey.

My 36K mile 69 Z/28 has a natural gray cast color manual steering box.
