Ill have to look and see if there is one there
I did check the crank and it had a pilot bushing in it. |
Re: 71 engine stamp decode needed
I believe CPD is an auto trans code.

Re: 71 engine stamp decode needed
The chart I listed shows this: CPD 1971 Chevelle 454 365 Mt LS-5 , 72 shows AT.
Take a look at the chart I listed. It may be wrong? |
Re: 71 engine stamp decode needed
I think CPA is the MT code and CPD is the Auto.

Re: 71 engine stamp decode needed
The Nasty site listing as shown indicates both CPA and CPD were MT codes for '71..
Considering the casting date it's probably a '71 but get the Vin sequence if it's there and count 8 digts back from the end for the model year also the plant digit and last six may help indicate which car line it was originally in.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif ~ Pete |
Re: 71 engine stamp decode needed
Chevrolet by the Numbers shows CPD as T400 LS5 in Chevelle, Monte, and Passenger cars in 71.
