What class would a 66 427/425 Biscayne have run in
I have a 66 Biscayne 427/425 Biscayne and would like to know what class it would have been in in 1966. I have had mixed opinions and thought I'd turn to the experts on the SYC.
Thanks in advance, Dave L. SoCal |

[b] My Impala used to run SC/C at West Hampton, a NHRA track.

Hello Dog427425,
Thanks for the info and that was a very cool car. So what time/mph did the car run? Did it have any mods? My Biscayne is a real 427/425 that is in stock condition. I am in the process of making it into a "Day 2" look. It was raced back in the day and not a Trailer Queen but in very good condition. Thanks again, Dave L. |

I'm pretty sure it was factored into NHRA's B/Stock according to it's HP/LBS.

Mark,
That's what several of my friends said. Thanks, DaveL. SoCal |

It ran in the 12's at over 100 mph, with 4.11's, headers, and some modifications - it was very competitive for the time ('68 /'69) - check out the win stickers! (Keystones & chrome reversed, way up high and the undercarriage painted white) Glenn http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...oreSS/66c1.jpg |

Glenn,
Those were the days. Perfect Day 2 car like so many of us had. I was tearing off original wheels/tires, carbs and intakes the first day I bought the car. Who cared about having an original numbers matching car back in the day! I just wanted to be faster than the next car. How long did you own it and where did you race at? Dave L. SoCal |

Most I've seen were in B/S however I've got pictures of Bill Izykoski's car in both B&C/S. This car is one of the best known '66 Biscayne stockers. I also have a picture of one at Aquasco and one at York US 30 and both are classified A/S.

http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=182571 scroll down to the pic of Paul Vitale's 67 Impala SS
This was today at Martin US131 Factory Stock/FAST race. This 427 Impala SS is really moving.......don't forget, manifolds, Polyglas tires, etc.....and it's a 4 speed. |
