Oil with ash help
My friend has a 70 chevelle 454 and the motor has 13 1/2
compression motor (not the orig one) and was running 20/50 oil.He was using the GM additive to compensate for the ash. Now its no longer available,What motor oil or additive would now be availiable to replace the GM additive??? PJ |

Do you mean zinc?
i've been using valvoline VR1 oil, it has added zinc. Kendall GT-1 is also good. or use this additive, http://www.zddplus.com/ |

Scott has paid out of his own pocket to have various oils analyzed for content. He has a handle on what you need to keep your flat tappet cams alive.

GM is still selling EOS,but it is under a different part#,and I havent bought it in a while.I use Comp cams break in lube with every oil change.Same stuff as EOS.There are other cam break in additives that are available at speed shops.You need them at every oil change on a serious race bigblock with a flat tappet cam.I run a 427 to almost 8K with 150# seat pressure and never have any problems even with .620" lift.Good luck.
