Re: -Jeg's Alum floor jack, feedback.
Hey Bud,
Have no personal knowledge of this jack, but "fourteen inch lift" with "17.5 inch saddle height" is a little skosh and may be a little tight to work under your car after putting a jack stand under there. I like 19-20" or better. My $.02. |

What are pros/cons of SEARS offering ??????? regards, |
Re: -Jeg's Alum floor jack, feedback.
Sam your right its needs to go higher...I mostly want a light one for those across town deals a guys needs to drag one for, tired of dragging the shop behemoth I have for those jobs.
we talked about the sears units before...I kinda thought guys were saying they broke to easy... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif |
Re: -Jeg's Alum floor jack, feedback.
Bud,
I've used a Brunnhoelzl alum. jack for more than ten years now and have never had a problem with it. I bought it when light weight jacks were not as prolific as they are today and I needed a light one. It's USA made, and from what I've seen is a much better quality than most of these later entries in the market (possibly from a foreign country). Unfortunately even in our "recession" they are as pricey today as ten years ago. Although sometimes you get what you pay for. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif D. |
Re: -Jeg's Alum floor jack, feedback.
I have it. Got it as a gift last year. I love it. I was a little nervous at first, because of the light weight, but it's solid. I use if for my lawn tractors too...where the nose of it is much lower than my steel jack and can squeeze into tighter areas.

Re: -Jeg's Alum floor jack, feedback.
I'll be in the market for another one soon. I had a Harbor Freight jack for three or four years and quite honestly it worked fine. I carried it in my trailer until someone borrowed it. Now, I don't know if they REALLY liked it, or REALLY hated it, ..... but for whatever reason it never came back to me. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif
I'm thinking the Craftsman unit might be my next one. (Do they come with provisions for a chain and padlock?) |
Re: -Jeg's Alum floor jack, feedback.
If you're thinking about a Craftsman aluminum jack as well, you might want to check their feedback on the sears.com website. Several of their jacks have a less than two-star rating (on a five-star scale) due to premature failure - probably at the worst possible time. Good luck! BCD.
