Hurst Shifter
What is the difference between an original 1969 Camaro big block hurst shifter and a small block hurst shifter? How do you tell the difference?

Re: Hurst Shifter
Both shifters are the same, but the linkage and rods are different....

anybody have pics?

Re: Hurst Shifter
On the same muncie trans? I think the handle might be different because the motor and trans are located one inch to the right for BBC.

Re: Hurst Shifter
Same handle # 5325, and a #3138 body, unless someone knows of a differant handle.
Matt, what do you want a picture of ? Mike |

Re: Hurst Shifter
I got an original 69 camaro Hurst Shifter, I seen where there is a difference b/t the big block one and small block one. I was trying to figure out what I got.

Re: Hurst Shifter
I believe the shifter and handle are exactly the same for bb vs. sb. The difference is the mounting bracket as shown in RPOL88's auction, and the rods. Since the bb shifter is about 1/2" further away from the tranny than the sb one, the rods are bent just a little differently.

Re: Hurst Shifter
Thanks I think I got a set of BB rods and linkages. Are the rods any thicker?

Re: Hurst Shifter
Here's what I think I know. SB and BB rods are the same diameter. The correct BB rods are numbered. SB are not. Both sets are longer than the aftermarket Hurst rods. Rev. is 9" 1st. & 2nd. is 14 3/4" 3&4 is 17 1/2".3&4 uses a fine thread. (3/8ths.-24). The factory 9 hole & the BB mounting brackets lower the position of the shifter on the transmission. Both brackets have an elongated hole for the bottom bolt that allows you to pivot the shifter for your desired location. Let me know if I need to be corrected. Thanks, Tom.
