Bird strike
Here are a couple YouTube videos of large fan jets during bird strike tests. One is a "blade out test" might give some idea of what goes on when you eat a bird ! And God forbid a Canadian Honker or several https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif like what happened last week in NY.

Wow, just goes to show you how lucky that flight was last week. Spectacular job by all involved to bring that plain down and get everyone out alive.

Re: Bird strike
This may not be true but I was told it was...
Many years ago, GE was testing a jet engine for bird ingestion. The engine was tied down tight in a concrete bunker. A young tech was sent out to the super market to buy some whole chickens for them to fire through the engine intake. The first chicken went right through the engine, destroying it completely and punching a hole right through the bunker wall behind it. The tech had brought back frozen chickens! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/shocked.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/shocked.gif Verne https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif |
