Vintage Powerglide transmission info. needed
I have a cast iron Powerglide 2 spd tranny that is in excellent condition. It weighs a ton and must have some use for either a '55-'56 chevy resto or??? Someone told me these units are being reworked for drag racing but seems like the weight would be a problem. Anyone know what this thing might be worth and how I can identify it's application and year of production? I do not see any dates anywhere.

Re: Vintage Powerglide transmission info. needed
There "should" be a casting number and date on the side of the main case. As for drag racing, it's the short-tail aluminum 'Glide that is popular. Your cast iron one is probably worth less than $100. on it's best day.

There is a cast number, I just have to roll it over. I could not fathom this anchor being of much use so thanks for the clarification.
