1967 z/28 Holley List #3911 smog Carb - Rare
One of the only good 1967 dated 3911's in existence.
If you own a 1967 Z/28 or 396/375hp with smog this is the carb you need. Dated 752 it is not a service replacement. Professionally rebuilt by Eric Jackson, this carb is ready to bolt on. $4500 |

752 date. Note 5462 metering block. https://www.yenko.net/attachments/360242-IMG_0586.jpg [/ QUOTE ] Why does this look like the previous date was ground off and then restamped to the left of it? Note date location on your 3910 carburetor compared to your 3911. |
Re: 1967 z/28 Holley List #3911 smog Carb - Rare
If I may step in here;
The carburetor was like that when Mike received the carb, and when it arrived to me for restoration. This is not the first time I have seen this done, and I am very, very confident that this was done when the carburetor was new, and that it was/is not an attempt to alter the date, but more likely a factory repaired mis-stamp. (There are a few other things that I don't wish to disclose on a public forum that also lead me to believe this is a factory stamp) I wouldn't think Holley would have scrapped an otherwise perfect carburetor over a mis-stamp. FWIW, ever seen a double, or even triple-stamped Holley metering block? I've seen a bunch of them. I have seen at least a half-dozen other Holley carbs with what I consider to be a "repaired" date from the factory. Some of the other carbs I've had in I am absolutely certain had been like that since day one. An example would be an apparently rather large run of Holley LIST 3418 carbs which were produced in 1970. I have seen numerous examples of that particular carb that had their dates ground off exactly as seen above and re-stamped. It wouldn't make much sense for someone to go to all the trouble to make such an obviously poor attempt at altering a date on an otherwise low-value carburetor. If I had any questions about the legitimacy of this carb, I would've declined to perform the restoration. Eric |
Re: 1967 z/28 Holley List #3911 smog Carb - Rare
Thanks Eric. This carb was definately not restamped by me or anyone. It was in a pile of old carbs and sold to me as a Mustang Holley core along with a 65 Corvette Holley. The guy that sold it definately did not know the significance of this carb. I have pics of it when I bought it. It was missing pieces, but all the important one were there.
