That's cool!

My son just moved from Sky West to Delta. He'll be flying the Boeing 717 (which was a McDonnell Douglas design based on the DC-9 IIRC).

Nice video; 3 minutes! (lol)! Sometimes I wish we could speed up real life like that. My interest here is in how to build a complex product in low volume. My expertise is in building 15 million units exactly the same; my current project is to build 10 saleable units that are somewhat remotely similar to each other.

I've been part of making engines for those and many other commercial and military aircraft for 30 years. Started out welding turbine compressor nozzles together, then on to furnace operations and for the last 12 years as a too maker. I'm pretty sure those are our engines on that plane.

I have been on the Boeing tour six times and often visit the site for a drive by to see in the PDI stage. Never gets boring.
I consider the 737 the "Chev Impala" or Ford Taurus" of the variation fleet. My son and I used to buy air tools from the Boeing Surplus store. Pneumatic tools fro $50.

Now if only I could get another drink or bag of pretzels when I am flying!!!

Keith, I bet your proud, nice photo... Pilots are worth their weight in gold as far as I'm concerned. They are in charge of lots of lives up in the sky... I have the utmost respect for them..

Great video. I've got about 9000 hours flying the 737. I still can't believe how reliable they are overall. 25 + years ago, when I was flying 727s we had all sorts of minor issues, but the 73 (that is how the airline people refer to it) has been very reliable and economical. In fact, the NG (Next Generation) 737s hold as many folks as an old 727-200 and burn half the fuel.

It is an excellent airplane that has accumulated millions of hours of flight time. They all have their issues from time to time, but with the total number of moving parts, the reliability factor is outstanding.

I think Boeing is producing 35/month or so right now which is amazing considering the complexity of these planes.
