Saw this one on ebay and after looking it over thought that it is a very nice car and at very fair price... |
Re: Ebay Daytona Yellow survivor Z28
check out the original spare in the trunk, it is not like the tires on the car. check out what it says on the side wall
|
Re: Ebay Daytona Yellow survivor Z28
Tom did you notice its from around here.. Harper College 68-69
Neat car. Bet it drives like a dream. |
Re: Ebay Daytona Yellow survivor Z28
I don't think the spare is original... it looked like it had the white letter protectant on it...
If it is a REAL polyglas car it will be the earliest one known. |
Re: Ebay Daytona Yellow survivor Z28
While you are checking that tire notice that it is the wrong size for a Z28. My guess would be that it is a repo tire.

Re: Ebay Daytona Yellow survivor Z28
Darren, your right check out the service tag on the dash.

Re: Ebay Daytona Yellow survivor Z28
From the eBay listing:
[ QUOTE ] The ONLY things that have been changed are the water pump and master cylinder [/ QUOTE ] I beg to differ. Anybody else see all the replacement service items I do (besides the tires)? Rad cap, battery, hoses, plug wires, battery cables, fuel pump, belts, air filter, etc... certanly not a big deal to most but to some it is. Better to say "the usual wear and service items have been replaced as you would expect" IMHO. |
Re: Ebay Daytona Yellow survivor Z28
I agree the ad could have been better, but how often do you think dealers like this actually get a REAL unrestored car?
The ad doesn't reflect the quality of the car for sure... It looks like a typical used car dealer ebay listing! |
Re: Ebay Daytona Yellow survivor Z28
Charley, are you sure it's not and E-70-15
|
Re: Ebay Daytona Yellow survivor Z28
It's an 04C built car. That is before the Polyglas was available.
|
Re: Ebay Daytona Yellow survivor Z28
didn't Polyglas tires come on big block 69 camaro's.
i know they were 14 inch, but couldn't the 15 inch have been out at that time also. just trying to learn if it was possible |
Re: Ebay Daytona Yellow survivor Z28
That is the common misperception. The Polyglas was a 1970 model year tire. Everybody puts those on their cars because they don't realize that the other, more correct tires are available from Kelsey Tire.
I believe the Goodyear Speedway Widetread was the available Goodyear tire for 1969. There were other makes of tires used as well. Here is a photo of my old Z11 from 1970 with its original Speedway Widetreads on it: http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...tn_camaro3.jpg Here's the info from the Kelsey Tire website: http://www.kelseytire.com/pages/preformancetires.html "E70/15 – Speedway Wide Tread RWL Specifically designed and only fitted to the 1968 and 1969 Z28 Camaro. Goodyear answered the call from GM to develop the appropriate tire for this high performance platform. Talk about a Z-handler, this Goodyear Speedway Wide Tread GT did the job. " |
Re: Ebay Daytona Yellow survivor Z28
I can't speak for Camaros specifically but the Goodyear Polyglas tire was available on a number of 1969 model autos both as standard and optional. I worked for Goodyear for a few years during this time period and seemed to recall these tires being available before 1970 as both 78 series as well as the "wide footprint" 70 series which appeared on the higher performance cars.
Scroll down to the notation under 1968 from the Goodyear website..... http://www.goodyear.com/corporate/hi...ry_byyear.html |
Re: Ebay Daytona Yellow survivor Z28
Make sure you all specify RWL when talking about belted (Polyglas) tire lack of availability for 69 model year. Red and white stripe belted tires WERE on the option list (and documented as supplied on cars) for mid 69.

Re: Ebay Daytona Yellow survivor Z28
Tire appears to be a F70-15
|
Re: Ebay Daytona Yellow survivor Z28
Steve... your pacer had 14" wheels right? I did not know they made 14" Speedway wide treads?
|
Re: Ebay Daytona Yellow survivor Z28
Yup, Kelsey has them right there on the website. It took a about 8 tries to get 4 good tires (letter defects) but they were really nice reproductions.
...and as for the photos? They were taken on the original owner's honeymoon. I think he kept the rest of the sequence in his private photo album. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif |
