No trophy yet 4/08 Vettefest
 

Im sorry to say and completely disgusted. I still do not have my trophy from the spring 4/08 ChevyVette Fest. I have called several times , in the beginning I was told a couple weeks and now it is July and I have left 3 messages with no reply.

Without the money, sweat, and time that all of us car guys put into our cars there would be no show . I don't understand what the reason could be on why it has taking so long.

I have been going to the Vettefest since it was at Donnley hall, and I was 15 years old. I never expected to be able to win a trophy for the same car that I drove in the snow to the show.

Bob Ashton better be riding his bicycle to my house with a trophy and a check to refund my money.

I apologize to anyone that doesn't agree with my opinion however I had to vent because this is God Dam ridiculous

I'm sure there is a good explanation why you haven't got your trophy. Bob Ashton is a stand up guy and I'm sure it'll be taken care of.

I'm not sure how this will inspire Bob. Bob is a member of this site and posts here when he can. You probably could have handled this privately with a moderator before going off here publicly. If he hasn't responded to you there is probably a good reason. Sometimes people have unexpected issues come up (like personal or family related). You might not feel too good with your post if this is ends up being the case..

DZ fool...What was the award you won ? I thought they usually give them out at the show ? Had you left early ? Bob Ashton and his group are a great group so something is screwy. It will get sorted out.

I wish you would have picked up the phone and called me....I would have been happy to resolve this issue for you. I can honestly say that Bob has been on the road the last few weeks....and Bob has always returned all of my calls. No need to vent in such a way. I have been patient, and I have left messages for Bob and Autorama that have not been returned .

If there is a good reason it has not been given to me . I was told 3 months ago it was a problem with the manufacturer and its July 6 as we speak. It was bronze spinner.

+++ Dan +++, I'm sorry for you not getting your trophy, I know it's important to you, and sure would be for me a Corvair owner, I don't get awards, or much nice things said about my car, so I feel your pain...Now as to the Refund of your Money, I can't give you your trophy , but I would be happy to send your refund if that would help. I also did not get my spinner as of yet. I was also awarded a bronze (My fathers 66 vet I just aquired back that had been in a collection untouched for about 20 years). I sent Bob a few emails, usually with quick reply's back but never any follow up past that. I understand the show is at the mercy of the spinner builder but we are customers of the show. Without us there would be no show. A few years back ChevyVette fest was almost a lost cause. Bob has done a good job of getting good cars and breathing life into the show. I have shown a few cars now at VetteFest and got a large group of Vettes together a few years ago. I find it upsetting this is how a customer is handled. I usually go by the if you can't say anything good keep silent but the original poster does not need to be attacked. We all have opionions and don't need personal attacks. We as customers of Chevy Vette Fest should be on the front burner. I see Bob's post. Is it that hard to send a quick email or letter explaning the problem. I have learned long ago in the sales/service industry be upfront and honest and satisfy the customer. I attend 10-12 big shows throught the year several races and many cruise nights. I also frequent about 10 message boards. I as a person in sales would rather have a person like myself telling everyone how the VetteFest is a must attend event rather than a if I have the time I may try to make it. Hopefully those spinners are done soon and a letter of explanition is sent.

Sorry for the loooong delay. Not here to make excuses but let's lay out the facts;

1. I received ONE call from you quite some time ago, and at that time, my supplier promised them to me within two weeks. As is the case with many GM licensed items, the actual Spinners are manufactured in China. Not an excuse, just "the other side" of what is causing this very long delay.

As everyone on the site knows, my office AND cell numbers are all over the place and I DO return calls. Three calls and left messages that were not returned? I don't think so.

2. Since the Bronze Spinners are still not here and realistically, I cant definitively say when I'll actually have them in my hand, I will have a Silver Spinner, which I have on hand, Bronze-tint sprayed and sent out tomorrow. Once the "real" Bronze Spinners come in, I'll happily replace the sprayed version with a proper version at our expense.

I understand your frustration and I appreciate your hard work and effort in being a part of the show. I would also like to congratulate you on achieving Bronze Spinner status.

We all have many irons in the fire, maybe a weekly follow up on someting like this in the future would not bring this type of problem up.

I know I don't. I never have my cars judged unless the owners want them to be. To me it takes away from the real reason I go in the first place. I know how good or bad my cars are and don't need a piece of wood to tell me. And...I may have gotten to the bottom of those calls.

Here at Championship, we have eight male employees, four of which are named Bob.

My Boss, Bob Larivee Jr., just came to my desk and said that someone who was very upset left a message on his voice mail. Jr. has been out of the office for the last two weeks. The caller did not leave a complete call back number.

Hmmm....

Anyway, the newly sprayed Bronze Spinners are curing up as we speak and will be boxed up and UPS shipped tomorrow.

I know what you mean! Funnny story: a few years back my prosecutors office was challenged to a grudge match softball game by another prosecutors office. We knew we were going to lose the game big time. So I offered to get the trophies for the contest. (I made them up out of the roomful of old carshow trophies I had)

The winning team was so impressed when I pulled the 4 foot tall, 1st place trophy out of my truck and presented it to them. Their mood changed drasticly when I brought out the runner's up trophy for our office. It was 7 feet tall and looked like something out of John Carpenter's movie "The Thing". -------I wouldnt want this thread to end on the sour note of 1970Bluel78, so let me add my kudos of Bob A and his wife here. Bob always has a smile on his face. Its like its tatooed there. He and his people have continuously put together great shows for a very long time. Problems arise in any arena, but its the way a problem is handled that is remembered and I have never heard of a problem that Bob and his people didnt get taken care of to the parties satisfaction. Im a Detroit area guy and all of us up here know that when something happens Bob A will get it handled.......Bill S

OK, hopefully this will be a final update and mods can close this one.

The remaining plaques have been sent to the deserving owners. Although we still have an issue with the actual plating of the bronze Spinners, I did get Bronze sprayed spinners to hopefully remedy this situation.

If any of the recipients are not happy with the actual spinner, they will be replaced as soon as this issue is rectified.

Thanks again for all of the kind feedback and as always, I am open to suggestions, comments and feedback, good or bad, to improve our shows.
