69 Chevelle hood hinges

Nice pair of hinges, pivots are still tight, still have the original springs on them. I picked these up today under the impression that they would work on my `67...they won't.

I paid $60.00 for them, which I'd like to get back. Repops cost more than that without the springs.

I'd also trade for an original set of GM `67 Chevelle hinges.

Re: 69 Chevelle hood hinges

Tom;

I don't know if they will or not. I was told by someone I considered to be well-versed in the issue that the `64-`72 Chevy A-body hinges were interchangeable, which they obviously aren't. I've tried perusing some of the online catalogs to cross-reference part #'s to see what might interchange, but after doing so I'm beginning to think they're more confused on the issue than I am.

I guess I could call Skip...

Re: 69 Chevelle hood hinges

I just read in the Chevelle restoration book that three different hinges were used in 67 https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif. It says the part numbers for a replacement hinge are 3910667 LH and 3910668 RH. Supposedly they cross reference with 65-67 Chevelles,65-67 Impalas, and 66-67 chevy IIs.

I don't know if this helps or makes it even more confusing.

Eric,

1969 Chevelle hood hinges only fit 1969 Chevelle and 1969 full size Chevrolet.

Re: 69 Chevelle hood hinges

Phil;

Thanks for confirming, that's what I'm coming up with too.

Tom;

From what I'm coming up with, the `68-`74 Nova hinges are interchangeable with a `68 Chevelle, but no other years. Same appears to go for `64 units--`64 Nova = `64 Chevelle.

Re: 69 Chevelle hood hinges

Chevrolet denotes that some hood hinges will interchange on other vehicles,but note that elongating the rearward hole on some by up to an inch may be necessary.Use under own discretion..
Here's what they originally used on the assembly line.
LH#3910667 & RH #3910668 hood hinges were installed on:
*1967-69 Camaro
*1966-67 Chevy II
*1965-67 Chevelle
*1965-67 Impala series

1968-76 Nova hood hinges were the same ones used on the 1968 Chevelle & Impala series.
As was stated earlier,LH #3949201 & RH #3949202 were 1969 Chevelle/Impala specific.

These all include Station Wagon/Elcamino,2 door or 4 door and be they SS or not.

Re: 69 Chevelle hood hinges

Eric,

If you come up empty on the '67 Chevelle hood hinge search, I probably have an extra set of '65-66 Impala hinges you could use according to the above listing.

Good Luck,

BCD.

Re: 69 Chevelle hood hinges

The springs that a hood hinge is holding are what mattered,so be sure you check into which one they have as well.To answer a few emails,here are just two pertaining to Erics' own vehicle..
Spring #3848272 is 8-25/64" long free sitting with 27-3/4 coils used on:
*1963-64 Chevy II
*1963-65 Chevelle
*1964-66 Impala series
*1966-67 Chevelle w/SuperSport
*1967-69 Camaro w/350cid or 396cid.
*1970 Impala series
*1971-72 Monte Carlo inc.Elcamino Custom
*1970-72 Chevelle w/Supersport or HeavyChevy pckg.

Spring #3864680 is 8-13/32" long free sitting with 24 coils used on:
*1965 Chevy II
*1966-67 Chevelle w/o SuperSport
*1968 Chevelle 2nd design
*1968 Impala series
*1969-72 Chevelle w/o SuperSport or HeavyChevy pckg.

I show many dealers around the country still holding inventory on both of these springs,so if anyone needs them let me know.
