71 RS Z28
Listing my black/black "survivor" rally sport Z on e bay this evening. Kenny Pascoe bought this car from the 4th owner in 2006. He did some minor cleaning & work on what was a fantasic car to start with, battery, smog, correct tires, etc & took it to GM carslie for Legend judging in June 2006. The car was certified "Legend" status there. This is an original black on black, M22, rally sport car. Original motor, tranny, rear, sheet metal & more. 42,xxx original miles. This car has been carefully cared for it's entire life. Body, interior, motor, paint, (90% + original paint) are all in excellent condition. I have the original window sticker, body broadcast sheet, retail order for motor vehicle & more. Owner history since new. No undercoating, no excuses. BIN on auction is $59,500.. to SYC members, $59,000. car is available for inspection. Send me a PM, e mail or call, 512 260 9953. Thanks SYC!

I used to have a 1973 Z/28 with the same color combination. It was a dash-dash paint code.

Re: 71 RS Z28
Is the 5K redline correct for a 71 Z28? I thought it was 6K.

Re: 71 RS Z28
i spoke with one of the judges, steve shauger, who judged the car at carlisle, he said that a 6K tach should be correct, however, he saw no signs this tach had been tampered with or changed at anytime. he suggested that it possibly could be a factory line install error.

Re: 71 RS Z28
also, judging sheets are included with the sale of the car.

Re: 71 RS Z28
I thought it may be an error. You may want to put in the auction about that. It may scare away bidders right off the bat. Guys shy away easilt with all the clones/scams out there these days.

Re: 71 RS Z28
I've seen this car and driven it a number of times, it's really cool with the M22 transmission whining through the gears. The car is all business. The paperwork is amazing and legitimate as is the entire car. The 5,000 rpm tach is a mystery, the car is a low mile, well documented Z28. I think they just put the incorrect gauge in the car. Love the low spoiler in the rear. |
Re: 71 RS Z28
Your car is being discussed on the 2nd gen site.

Re: 71 RS Z28
i have just become a member of the nasty z28 site today.. can't make any posts there yet until i have admistrator's approval.. again, i spoke in depth with steve shauger about the tach issue, who told me he felt the tach has never been removed from the car, & i am completely comfortable that this tach was incorrectly installed by the factory. the factory documentation more than proves this car for what it is along with the legend certification from carslile & the judges who signed off on the judging sheets, steve shauger, joe swezey & bob harris.

Re: 71 RS Z28
I just learned the car is being discussed again (at least twice previously)regarding the 5K redline. This car is a very nice honest low mileage car. We certified it in our Vintage program a couple of years ago. Infact when it was originally for sale I was second in line and really wanted the car, but you know how that goes.
I along with the other judges felt the tach looked as though it was original to the car(based on securing hardware and other factors), and we assumed/concluded it was a factory mistake. We did not do carbon dating https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif to confirm it was original to the car. The car has provenance and pedigree and we stand behind our findings as noted on the judging sheets. BTW the car was seen by many including Legend Second Gen Judges and was available for inspection the whole weekend. Anomalies are nothing new to these mass produced cars. If someone is interested in the car just PM me and I will pull the judging sheets. I would advise anyone interested to take a look and drive the car, rather than just speculate from afar. Hope this clears up any questions. Steve |
Re: 71 RS Z28
Beautful car! Wish I had the $$$
Yes, we all know that Chevrolet never made any mistakes on the assembly line. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif I remember when I helped my dad order our 1987 Chevy Suburban back in 1986. We ordered it as a gold with tan interior, 350 4bbl, 3/4 ton 4x4 model. What arrived was a gold with BRIGHT BLUE interior suburban (a non-available color combination) with a diesel instrument panel. No explanation, no reason for the "added bonus." We rechecked the paperwork and all the original paperwork order forms were correctly done. The thing looked like the Official Cub Scout Pinewood Derby Pace Truck. |
Re: 71 RS Z28
It is a neat car, I've probably driven it about 50 to 75 miles and it runs great, just pulls strong. I've also owned a number of Corvettes with factory flaws including a very late '68 Corvette with a '69 dash from new. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif
