Sidepipes! Can I have them?

Nice car! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Don't know the name off the top of my head but I'll keep my eyes open for you..

Mike - Now that I think about it. There is a guy I know that has the twin to my Z. He lives by me and I think he might have bought the car from that dealership. I'll send him an email. He is also from the area so if his car wasn't from there I'll see if he remembers it..

Also, Barnhart probably knows about the dealership. Only a stones throw away from him.

I've lived near this area since 91, and the have been gone at least this long.

They would have to have been down the street from the now closed Santa's Village.

The building, may still be standing but housing a used car dealer.

No answers but a couple thoughts...

Al Piemonte Chevrolet is a current dealer w/ similar address as RT. 25 Dundee...could it be the same location but different name?.

http://www.piemontechevy.com/

Also Doane Chevrolet was a Dundee Chevy Dealer operating in the 60's but on Main St..

Dealer Name: Doane Chev
Zone # 11
Dealer # 163
Status: No longer in Business
Address: 10 E. Main St.
City: E. Dundee
State: IL

Any Dealer codes listed in your info?.

Good luck!

Thanks for the replies. Must have been a real small dealership. Original owner was John Filson from Elgin. This car is pretty much original and still has the tires on it when it rolled of the dealers lot. They must of put different wheels and tires on it and then put the original rims and tires on it awhile back when it was sold to the second owner. I would think the buildsheet is still in the car somewhere, I havent even looked yet.

Jeff has his info correct and both were just down the road from Santa's Village, were you could get a land and sea/pond ride, in an Amphi-Car.

I believe that Dick Doane was the owner (really testing the memory bank). He was heavily into road racing and I had heard that he was one of the owners of the now defunct Meadowdale Raceway.

Ronnie Kaplan (Nickey Chevrolet Racing Crew Chief and Back door engineer) won his First Daytona, on the beach Race (later disqualified) in a Doane sponsored race car, back in the 50s.

Albert Peters sold a lot of new Corvettes back in the 1970s when they were hard to come by. My brother bought a new 1975 at Peters.

Cool. Sounds like they were in business a short time and mainly in the 70's to early 80's. I wonder if they had a plate frame or dealer emblem/sticker

Re: Albert Peters Chevrolet - Dundee, IL

Hey guys. I know this is an old thread ,but I bought a 72 Vette a couple of years ago and under the flip up lid for the gas tank is an orange and black sticker that says Albert-Peters Chevrolet,10 E.Main St.,Dundee,Il.60120...I bought this car from the second owner's estate. The title I got was dated Feb.1973,so I can only guess that either he or the original owner purchased the car from that dealer. It is all orig. except for a factory replacement engine block with a CE stamping on it. The car was built in June of 72,so the original motor didnt last very long. I live in the area,so I drive through E.Dundee often, and I can tell you that 10 E.Main St is a small building just east of the Fox River, and looks like it could very well have been a small car dealership back in the day. Also,Main St. is actually Rte.72(or Higgins Rd. closer to Chicago). The location of Al Piemonte Chevy now is on Rte.25,which is further east of downtown Dundee. It is a newer building, but around it are several older car dealer buildings along with the now defunct Santa's Village(no more PolarDome). Hope this helps,if anyone was interested. Mike

I know this is an old post but I also grew up nearby in Crystal Lake and we had friends in Carpentersville. Went to Santa's Village often. I think I know what building this dealership was in on Rt. 25. I will try to snag a picture of it next time I'm in the area. As a kid I used to pay a lot of attention to car lots... weird.

I bought this postcard off ebay. Shows the dealership in about 1977.

Looking at old newspapers I see ads running from 1972-1977. Funny thing is they are all "want ads" for various positions, no car ads.
