Rocket mags from '70's
Anyone remember Rocket Racing Wheels from the '70's? I had a set of chrome 5 spokes (like Cragar SS but with a "pointed" spoke instead of flat)I bought new in 1976. They seem non-existant now. Would love to find a set!

Re: Rocket mags from '70's
My brother had them on his 71 Z.. I have been looking for a set myself for quite some time. The caps seem to be an easy find but the wheels are not so easy. The ones I have found are mostly in 14in.

Re: Rocket mags from '70's
I know what you mean about old wheels. We had a "Big O" tire store here when I was a kid, sold ET's. Being cheap and liking the fact they were unilug so if I traded cars the wheels would still fit, I bought a set of the ones that look like Torq Thrusts. Now I wanted another set for the old look. Found some on ebay, bought em, and restored them. Now when I go to the car show the wheels get more attention than the car.

Re: Rocket mags from '70's
Did the Rocket wheels have a Chromed Cast center like Cragars or were they stamped steel? I recall SOME wheel that had the same look as a Cragar, but was all steel. Maybe Appliance? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: Rocket mags from '70's
Rockets were cool. Similar to Cragar . I have a set of center capes which look a bit larger in diameter than the Cragar. I had pictures of my old COPO Chevelle in about 1970 with Rockets on it.

Re: Rocket mags from '70's
I don't have any wheels but do have a few decals and a couple of Rocket timing tapes, a distributor hold down and power steering cap from Rocket. I found a couple of these in an old speed shop in Poplar Bluff recently. They had a couple pounds of dust on them...

Was Rocket an American Company or impoted stuff [/ QUOTE ] Well, I found a company in Australia called Rocket Industries http://www.rocketind.com/ that has the exact logo as the wheels of old. Emailed them but they didn't answer my main question of "is there a connection?". They did say they didn't have Rocket Racing Wheels (no big surprise there). Dave |

Back in the day, everyone seemed to run chrome reverse. Now you never see them. I thought they looked pretty cool.

Re: Rocket mags from '70's
I like chrome reverse wheels too. I had a couple sets but they were in bad shape so I tossed them recently. I probably should have kept them....
