Re: Cowl plenum breather
Did you get the blue car? I remember somebody sells one out of the S.F. bay area or northern California. Maybe by the name of T/A performance or a name close to that. I think he advertises in Hemmings.

Re: Cowl plenum breather
Is it fiberglass??steel?? I would not fill the hole. Just make a cowl plenum "delete" plate until you have the funds to buy an air cleaner. That setup is just too coollll!!!

Re: Cowl plenum breather
It is a blue car but a Canadian car . The plenum breathers are suppose to be steel and not fibreglass like Taperfesto

Re: Cowl plenum breather
I have used a few of the TA performance air cleaners and other than touching it they look like metal.

Google NKR Products and you can see the plenums I am speaking of. Anyone know of them/

Re: Cowl plenum breather
Paul, Did you get the Canadian documentation for the car yet? If so did it show the cowl plenum being ordered with the car? Go for broke, get a crossram and a factory cowl plenum air cleaner set up. Am I reading this right that the whole air cleaner is made out of plastic? I had a 1967 Z/28 and I remember that the duct that attaches to the firewall was plastic with a rubber tube that fed into a steel air cleaner. This was over 20 years ago, was I looking at a reproduction?

Re: Cowl plenum breather
From what I have heard the cowl plenums from NKR are very close... the lid is the only minor difference... I have read that unless you have the lids side by side you can't tell them apart.

Re: Cowl plenum breather
This is a quote from the NKR website...
"Nelson, Your work on the 68 Z/28 cowl plenum is excellent." Jerry MacNeish Author of The Definitive 1967-1968 Camaro Z/28 Fact Book Eldersburg, Maryland If Jerry gives his blessings (and I wasn't prepared to spend the $$$ to buy a NOS one) then it would be good enough for me. |
Re: Cowl plenum breather
Yes I see they are steel and if Jerry gives his thumbs up it must be a great piece. As far as the paperwork I have not sent to GM Canada as of yet. I do not know if the car wsa ordered with the breather in the trunk or bought from a GM parts shop later. I will keep you posted Mark. Hows the new toy?
