<font color="blue">I am on right now @ 11:50pm est &amp; I checked 'who's online'&amp; noticed there were many

I think this may become a problem. I had that happen on my old website
&amp; had to shut it down due to members getting spam &amp; such due to the same reason.

I've noticed that too Mike...96 people looking at user profiles counted at 9:03pm AZ time!

that is really disturbing, many sites only allow registered users to view member profiles. again my Emailbox is flooded with offers to get me a "Sonic-Johnson" I'll have to change my email AGAIN !!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif

I brought this up to Tom C. a few days ago and he said unfortunately this is the price of doing business as the web site gets bigger. I felt he had the situation under control. Am sure Mr. Clary will chime in to explain.

Not a bad idea to have limited access to profiles - other sites do it.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think you MUST be registered, and MUST be logged on to view members' profiles. Anonymous users viewing a members profile may be some like me; who have chosen the "Anonymous" feature in their profile. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

That is why I deleted my personal email from the user profile and have very limited info in there as well..

I've been getting a bunch of spam lately too but I'd be surprised it could ever be worth someones' time to manually pick through our profiles here just to send this crap...or maybe I'm wrong and true my Johnson isn't really satisfying my woman afterall either?.

You have to make sure your e-mail is not on your profile or else you will get a ton of junk or spam mail. Currently, you *must* be logged in to view profiles...a lot of those anonymous users are "search bots" (the ones on now are specifically Yahoo bots)...how they're seeing the profiles I don't know, but I'm finding out.

Also, unless you've manually changed the way your "public" email address is viewed by the public, then you should be safe from these bots...when you register, if you select to show your email addy to the public, the forum software automatically sticks in _removemefirst in your email syntax (look @ my profile) so the email becomes invalid to the bots/spamware, but users can easily see to take out that part before sending an email...or at least that's how it's *supposed* to work, as one of my regular questions is "why can't I email so &amp; so, or my email address is wrong"...!

Deleting your email address is not necessary, just don't manually change your public email from the software generated _removemefirst_ email syntax...
