69 Z Debut at spring Chevy Vettefest
I am trying to get my Z ready for the spring Vettefest. ( April 12 ) I thought this would be a good forum to ask some questions.
First question is exhaust : The car is a early Z made 4th week of November 68 , and I was wondering if I should buy a chambered exhaust or regular dual exhaust ? I love the look of the chambered but I'm not crazy about the sound . The other issue is what would have came standard on a early Z and what would have been a option. I will try to keep this thread updated with pics and more questions and answers as the show gets closer . I have owned this car since 1988 and have abused it in every possible way. I would like to at least get a bronze spinner. Danny |

Positraction was not even standard/required on a Z/28 with 3.73:1 gears. It could not have a ducted hood. If it was built with special instrumentation it would have the 6/7 tach. If was built with spoilers the rear would have been the narrower '68. 11D spanned Nov 17-23 so it likely did have chambered. |

I have an (11D) car also. Short spoiler, 7000 rpm tach, flat hood, chambered exhaust and no brake regulator under the drivers seat on the frame. DG 3 on the X brace behind the rear seat. 547891 is the VIN. Contact Dru Diesner (Psycho) he is a member here and a judge at Vettefest. Sam

I also own an 11d 69z built in CA. It has a non posi 3.73 rear end code BO. It was at the vettefest this past fall.It also came from the factory with chambered exhaust.

Re: 69 Z Debut at spring Chevy Vettefest
Yep..pre May 1969 would've gotten a Delco Y55 reverse polarity top post as standard.
Delco R69 top post was the optional extra cost. |
Re: 69 Z Debut at spring Chevy Vettefest
Years ago at the first ever 427 Camaro special gathering in Michigan I had my just finished 06A Yenko. The crack judging staff gave me "0" as in Zero points for my battery, cable's, and tray because I was the only car there with a side post battery. I was docked for many items that day including painted door lock assemblies, painted trunk latch, the original flash chrome valve covers, and even got points taken on my YH rallye wheels, since I didn't have mags. I came away with the lowest scoring Yenko of the event. Those were the days https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif...BKH

Re: 69 Z Debut at spring Chevy Vettefest
There is more information on these cars today than back then.I'm sure the judges are more in tune with the cars today,or they shouldn't be judging.

Re: 69 Z Debut at spring Chevy Vettefest
Buying a Stainless Chambered setup tommorow. Nobody makes a alluminized system with polished tips. Time to break out the communion money,
|
Re: 69 Z Debut at spring Chevy Vettefest
You need to call Gardner. No chambereds ever had polished or chrome tips..BKH

Re: 69 Z Debut at spring Chevy Vettefest
Give D&R classic a call 1-800-472-6952,they sell a nice alluminized system.Bought one from them a few years back and didn't have any problems, plus you can drive there and pick it up.

Re: 69 Z Debut at spring Chevy Vettefest
I have a 12A Z/28: Flat hood, narrow rear spoiler, 7K tach with 6K redline, 3.73 gears with posi, iron exhaust manifolds, battery not original. I am as crazy as I sound - What is a chambered exhaust?
