Re: Rare decals vintage

Chuck, Let me know on the LI stuff, always interested. Just had a chat with a guy who raced the 60's KoMotion/Astoria Chas Vette at Islip back in the mid sixties with a 58 Impala and stroked 500 inch 409 with early Z11 heads in it (built at S/K) and beat him, Rosen was there and swore he cheated, guy tore the engine apart after the day was over and let Rosen look at everything, all legit and Rosen lost fair and square. He has pictures and is digging them out for me, should be fun. Incidentally, I was in S/K the other day and they had a big stack of free stickers on the desk.!

Glenn,

The decals don't look like that anymore. Do you have any extras of those ones? I'm trying to find some for my ss427. I have a brand new hat with that graphic somewhere. Guess it's time to open some boxes in the barn!

Looked - but could not find any - if I find any you can have them - they actually came in a left & right side - I got both stuck on stuff.

Re: Rare decals vintage

King... How much for the Ansen decal with the mag wheel on it? Does that decal have cracks in it? Not to be a jacka$$, Chuck, but the last decal you sold me broke into pieces because of the fine, hairline cracks. Please be honest.

427king 02-26-2008 12:20 AM

Re: Rare decals vintage

I dont put decals under a microscope before i ship them, but why not contact me prior and tell me direct you had a problem?? Ive sold a few thousand with this being the first ive heard of such a thing,so lets not make this an "honest" issue as if it was intentional.

MosportGreen66 02-26-2008 12:38 AM

Re: Rare decals vintage

Intentional, come on Chuck, we both know better. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

I like to display my decals on my cars... Don't need a microscope to see those cracks though... Just asking, not questioning you, bought from you numerous times before, never had an issue, which is why I asked.

How much for the decal Chuck? Does it have any fine cracks? Thanks! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

Old decals often form unseen or hard to see cracks and then break apart when set in water. If you are concerned about an old (and often expensive) decal then you can stop by the local hobby shop and get some brush-on decal film (liquid) which will restore the decal to its original one-piece condition. (Follow the instructions on the decal film.) The cracks may still be visible but the brush-on film will keep the decal in one piece as it is on the sheet before wetting. Go slow. Wet the decal and then remove it from the water and let sit until it will slide on the backing. This is a delicate procedure so do not force the decal to slide. If it doesn't slide with only very slight finger pressure then re-soak it for a few seconds and remove and let sit again. Patience is the key here. Nothing is more frustrating than having old/$$$ decals go to hell on you but these steps should prevent that! Should.
