Is that MOOMAW CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP still active---That's a https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif building if it is.......

Re: UPLOADING TEST PICTURES AGAIN OF MUSCLE CARS

Yes, Moomaw Chevy is still open. It has been there for a very long time. It is a cool little dealership in a small town. My Father In Law bought his first new car there, a 1960 Chevy convertible. The owner of the dealership, Mr. Moomaw, was talking to Steve and I during the car show.. He is a real nice guy. He is also the salesman that my Father In Law bought his car from. My father In Law was also at this show, but not with that car..

Re: UPLOADING TEST PICTURES AGAIN OF MUSCLE CARS

An Americana setting if ever there was on.
Do you have any old interior/exterior pictures of the dealership taken within the last 40-50 years?
How about any older showroom display items packed away in their attic/basement?

Mr. Chevy 02-20-2008 05:32 AM

Re: UPLOADING TEST PICTURES AGAIN OF MUSCLE CARS

No, unfortunately I do not have any photos of the inside of the dealership. You can also bet that Big Steve and I checked with the owner about any old Chevy displays or stuff that might be laying around https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif. Unfortunately that stuff is gone per the owner https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif. There are a couple of cool, older signs that are hanging on the walls in the parts/service area, but those are staying with the dealership.

I do have some dealership memorabilia items from there such as snow scrapers, ball cap, front dealer plates and an old plate frame. I even checked with the parts manager about any older items that might be laying around in the attic and he stated that they got rid of a lot of stuff several years back... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif

I agree, but I've always liked the '68 Chevelle.

Your Nova has me curious. Isn't it somewhat unusual to have a vinyl roof without the bright trim around the windows? Not by any means questioning the accuracy; it just seems like the two options would go together.

Lovin BOTH cars. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Hey Steve, are those vintage TTOs on your Camaro? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif

Rich - that is one sweet looking Nova https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif . Don't know if I like the Cragar S/Ss or the dog dishes better. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Where is that Moomaw dealership located? I had a Moomaw family live next door to me as a kid for awhile in Canfield. Pretty unusual name, bet they're related.

Re: UPLOADING TEST PICTURES AGAIN OF MUSCLE CARS

Dennis, I agree with you the bright trim work looks nice with the vinyl top. But the bright trim work around the windows came only with the custom exterior and exterior decor packages RPO ZJ2 & RPO ZJ5 respectively. My car did not have either option originally therefore, no moldings.. She is just a "Plain Jane".
Steve's car does have period correct TTs on it..

Sam, I am not sure where the Moomaw family is from.. I think they were mainly from around Tuscarawas County, Sugarcreek area..

Thanks guys for the nice compliments!!

Re: UPLOADING TEST PICTURES AGAIN OF MUSCLE CARS

Dennis, those are the old "Gennie" wheels from 65...14X7 straight spoke.They are Americans and the biggest PITA to find in usuable condition.I bought them in pairs and restored them to period correct.I have a NOS one I used as a template... I made a fixture and restored all the lug holes and center cap holes on a CNC mill.I recently found several sets of the old lugs to complete the period look.

Mr Moomaw was quite a gentleman . He gave me a personal tour of his dealership and spent about a hour giving me it's history. He was very proud of his dealership and it's survival in todays age of the googleplex chain dealers. His pride has always been in his service.I believe he said it started out as a Overland dealer..Yes, he asked for my number and said he would call if he found "anything" I may be interested in. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif

Thanks for the pic Rich...and yes Mike, I've often been call handicapped https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif Can't wait to be out at Solon Commons.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Rich,
I actually like the look of your car without the brite trim. Plain Jane does it for me. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif

Cool wheels. Wanna do some more? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif I have a set of vintage 14 x 7s too. Slated to go on a White '69 Nova soon! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: UPLOADING TEST PICTURES AGAIN OF MUSCLE CARS

Actually, the three moldings; B80 = 'Roof Drip Moulding', B84 = 'Body Side Moulding' & B90 = 'Door and Window Frame Moulding' could be had individually, in pairs, or all three. The Custom Ext. option got you the rockers and tailpanel, & possibly the side gills.

A vinyl top car only guarantees you the drip rail molding, nothing else.

Check your trim tag, bottom row, for a single digit number. That will tell you how many of the 3 moldings your car came with.

Man those cars look good! The wheels and tire combo on both look pretty killer to me! Steve, I love that color! Both cars Day-2ed perfectly IMO. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

Re: UPLOADING TEST PICTURES AGAIN OF MUSCLE CARS

Thanks for the info. Marlin.. I am certain my car only came with the drip rail moldings and nothing else. I know pretty much the full history behind the car and have pictures of it dating back to the early 70s from the second owner who bought it in 1972 from the original owner. Luckily I was able to track this fella down and speak with him about the car and its history.. When he bought it it was not "screwed with" and was all there as far as its originality, "Plain Jane" look with dog dish caps & the 14x7 XT steel wheels..

Thanks again fellas for the nice comments and compliments!!

You've got the '1' indicating one ext moulding - with 'B' code for upper paint, it has to be drip rail!!

Another 731 car, tough interior to restore https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

What's the small rubbery plug in the wire harness right behind the booster tang?

Mr. Chevy 02-21-2008 10:49 PM

Re: UPLOADING TEST PICTURES AGAIN OF MUSCLE CARS

Marlin, the rubbery plug behind the booster tang is my fusible link for the underhood light. I have it wired so I can remove the fuse which lies in that boot and makes the link/connection. This is obviously so the underhood light does not come on every time I open the hood and kill my battery... I kind of have it "stashed" behind the power booster to conceal it somewhat.. It is cool when you are at a summer nite show and you plug in the underhood light and it reflects on the chrome of the valve covers and air cleaner!! The underhood light was an option I added to the car as well as the windshield washer monitor light... All part of the aux. lighting package which is neat!!

Re: UPLOADING TEST PICTURES AGAIN OF MUSCLE CARS

That single letter indicates what color the interior items should be - other than the seats, as the seat color is contained in the TR code.

The letters:

A = Black
B = Blue
G = Green
M = Gold
R = Red
S = Sandalwood

I think I got 'em all, but there might be another color I missed.
