Re: 69 L78 Nova
Do you hate all the nice cars you buy? Why can't I have half your luck in finding cars Mark? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Good luck with the sale!

Re: 69 L78 Nova
The ad was cheap and I had to borrow money from my wife to buy the car. I have not seen a car with better panel fit, paint and body work. There are some little issues with the car like not having the original motor or trans. I have never had a car that drives better and has been this well put together. But I have not heard the end of it since I brought the car home on a trailer. Now she gets to see that I am trying to make her happy and it has been quite around the house since. She is my second wife and my kids are still young. I do not think it will sell and I am thinking about getting one of those ads that last for 60 days or more and keep renewing it so there is piece in the house. Rob knows of a another Nova out here in California but it is hard to give up the chase for the right car.

I've been watching the auction, best of luck with the sale - and for keeping the peace at home https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif
I especially liked the self professed 'expert' that felt the need to share his knowledge with you via the q&a feature on ebay! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif ""saw auction.when you cloned this car did you get the right crossmember.hard to fine. most people dont know the difference between a 350 and 396 cross member.80000 miles means the original engine was gone 30 years ago.im a expert on the 69 396 /375 car and the 66 327/350 chevy11 questions and answers tony"" |

The Nova in the auction is cool.... I can see what my car would look like with the steel rims! |
Re: 69 L78 Nova
Good luck on both fronts Mark! Say hi to that D. Wilson guy for Lynn and I!

Re: 69 L78 Nova
This guy e-mailed me twice more. I started out one of my responses with the question of what color was the sky in his world. But I thought about it, then changed my mind and just thanked him for his observations. This could have been me 25 years ago if somebody told me that GM installed 427 motors in a 1969 Camaro because I never saw one in California.

Re: 69 L78 Nova
Great car Mark...always nice to know of more Canadian L78 cars!.
Too bad you couldn't keep it...hope it's found the right home! Funny but Googling your new friend Tony's number reveals nothing of his car expertise...it's a Texas Tattoo shop!. And did you keep the stinger hood you had on the white '69 'Camaro...didn't you take it off before selling the car?. ~ Pete https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |

Nice shifter hole. Can you say vertigate. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif [/ QUOTE ] Look a bit closer - you can see the outline for the original hole for a shifter hump car. There's a piece of aluminum riveted where they had chopped out the hump for whatever reason. Thanks to A.Cardo - that whole area is now spot on factory correct! I used the original holes at the front of the tunnel for the console bracket to locate the console, which located the hump.... Weld it! |
Re: 69 L78 Nova
I could see the outline. It was the "add on" that is pretty much the norm with old novas. Some of the holes I've see I think you could pass a kid the size of Benjamin through. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif
That Cardo guy has a lot of good stuff. I think I've gotten a few things from him too. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
Re: 69 L78 Nova
Pete, the stinger hood ended up in Arizona. I was afraid that the kids would ruin it with their bikes in the garage. I already had one of them get his bike caught between the wife's truck and the wall He just kept pulling it till he got it loose. He scratched the truck about 2 feet along the middle of the side. The Nova looks to be sold, I talked to the buyer last night and I am waiting for the deposit. I think I am in denial but it is worth the piece in the house. I will be looking for a SS350 Nova or Camaro because I can not afford a big block anymore. Hey Bruce I have only met Mr Wilson once in 2.5 years. He seems to be a very busy man.

Re: 69 L78 Nova
A friend of mine said that I prefer the hunt instead of owning the car. I am starting to wonder if he is right.

Re: 69 L78 Nova
Hey Mark...first of all...congrats...again! Second, what car will we drive to Donut Derelicts when I come out that way this summer? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
BTW, tell Vicki upstairs hi for us too! I guess Dave IS a busy guy! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif |
Re: 69 L78 Nova
Bruce do not worry I will have something to drive soon. I can not go long with out something old in the garage. Until then I will have to park my Toyota across the street. Or I could go to the other show in Irvine with all the rich O.C. people with their store bought headlight girlfriends. You are right Vicki is one of the best people I know.
