Trying to find Jerry Buczkowski
Does anyone know how to get in touch with Jerry? He owned a Lemans blue 69 Yenko Camaro for over 21 years which was featured in many books and mags while he owned it. My internet search turned up old contact information. He still goes to Barrett Jackson once in a while. I am trying to gather more information on the car and talk to as many previous owners as possible. Thanks for any help.

Re: Trying to find Jerry Buczkowski
Ask Donnie if he can get you the info. Jerry's out in the Phoenix area for the winter. Better yet try this phone number in Mesa. 480-357-6773 from a search at anywho.com

Does Jerry still have the '66 R-Code Fairlane?
Paul |
Re: Trying to find Jerry Buczkowski
I just got off the phone with Jerry what a GREAT guy he still has the original owners name and the cars history from day one. He sold all his cars in 1998 to buy a winter home in Arizona. You gotta love this site or sight as Charley and Colin say. LOL

Re: Trying to find Jerry Buczkowski
I have some old video of Jerry's car from a show in Springfield Ohio years ago @ 1991. The tape is at least an hour or better long. One of he first Yenko gatherings ever for Cars and Parts magazine...BKH

Re: Trying to find Jerry Buczkowski
Is there anyway I could get a copy of the video???? By the way check out my thread of the original owners buyer experience of this car.

Re: Trying to find Jerry Buczkowski
It's on old VHS tape. I havent seen it in years, but I interviewed Jerry on that day along with many others. I am sure there are many members cars on this tape. I guess there are places that can put it into CD form. If thats possible then yes..BKH

Re: Trying to find Jerry Buczkowski
Great when you an talk to the original owners like that.

Re: Trying to find Jerry Buczkowski
I got an email from Donnie...which has pics of Jerry's Yenko.
Two really cool things about the pics....they were taken by our own Rick Nelson (SS427)at Super Chevy in 1983...and the other cool thing is that another member here, Bill Stephenson (Oldredalert)is the guy that is taking a pic of the Yenko...with no shirt on! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Les, here you go...and enjoy! http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...enkoCamaro.jpg |
Re: Trying to find Jerry Buczkowski
-----Man,,,This pic just seems to follow me around. Isnt there a way to destroy a picture on the internet??? Hey,,,It was a hot day and, as you can tell, I was only an amateur "beer taster" then. I only say this as I just noticed Donnies listed profession in his bio. Donnie,,,I have since turned pro as well.
-----I wonder if anyone remembers the LS5 1970 Chevelle convertable I had there that weekend. It was silver with white stripes and black gut and just about every option available, and I had 8 inch knock-offs and goodyear NCTs on it. Sorry for the minor hijack........Bill S |
Re: Trying to find Jerry Buczkowski
Brian, just take the tape to Wolf Camera, Ritz, or any of their other names, and, they will convert to DVD very cheaply.

Les,
you can see the original post with pics that Bruce put up here. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/showflat...e=0&fpart=3 |

You could say it 10,000 times and it still wouldn't be enough the history found on this site is amazing.

Wow Rick....How cool is that??? Man oh man!!!!

Re: Trying to find Jerry Buczkowski
You know - it's interesting! These pictures of the 427
engine don't show any overspray on the intake or exhaust manifolds. Now on the waterpump bypass hose for that matter. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Do we know if this engine was rebuilt prior to these pictures being taken? I'd just like to know more........ https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif Nuch |
Re: Trying to find Jerry Buczkowski
------Rick,,,You and I must have tripped over each other way more than once. Thanks so much for the pictures!!! That is one car I very much miss and am really proud of as it was a really great driver. It did everything well and all but paint and body was done by me. There were a few owner mods like the wheels, tires and some engine stuff like a 69 427 aluminum oval-port low manifold (liked the way it looked), cam, shift kit, 69 Chevelle chambered exhaust, etc. I wasnt planning on selling it, ever! Also, a whole bunch of NOS stuff went into that resto. Even though the car was black originally I wanted silver and white, but the collector I sold it to (for 15,500,,,ACH!!!) in western Iowa stripped it and repainted it back to black. He still had it along with about 25 other muscle-cars about 5 years ago when we last spoke.
------Once again,,,Thanks Rick and thanks to Les and everyone for letting me dive into some good memories.......Bill S |
Re: Trying to find Jerry Buczkowski
Not to be critical of the engine bay shots. but the car has been detailed under the hood clearly. Look at the booster painted black, phosphating has been painted over, and the use of many silver plated bolts. I have inspected this car and it is a great car, but like most cars of that era, it had some amature detailing. At one point a few years ago we were asked to re-detail this car. We never did...BKH

Re: Trying to find Jerry Buczkowski
Hey Paul,
Jerry B's '66 Fairlane is here in Tacoma, WA. I was at the Kruse Auction in Auburn IN in '97 or '98 and came across Jerry and his Fairlane in the Car Corral section. I brought one of Jerry's very nice 8.5x11" glossy flyers home and gave it to my Ford collecting buddy, Gary McKay. He subsequently made a deal with Jerry to buy the Fairlane (plus a like-new F250 and Jerry's car trailer to boot.) Gary took some pics while he was there and later showed them to friend Jim Hughes. Jim, a Chevy guy at heart, spotted the Camaro in the pics and was smitten. He put a deal together, and soon the SYC Camaro was on its way to the NW. (IIRC, Jerry still had an L78 Nova and was storing/selling a friend's yellow W-code 427 '67 Comet). As you may recall, Paul, Gary McKay is also the same fellow who had previously owned the 1700 mile Ex-McGruder '66 Hemi Satellite you guys picked up at BJ in '07. Now sing, "It's a small world after all, its a small world after all......." https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
Re: Trying to find Jerry Buczkowski
Tom, Yeah, it's amazing how small this world can be with great forums like this!!
When I spoke to Jerry, he said there was another R-Code '66 Fairlane in the same car corral in Auburn owned by a guy from Fort Wayne named John Jennings. Did you see that one? It eventually found it's way to Florida and now is sitting right here in my shop. VIN is two digits from Jerry's (now Gary's) Fairlane. I'm trying to track down Jenning, who has some of the previous race history of my car. Ya gotta love this forum. Paul |
