BB heater box
Is a 69 Nova BB heater box (both inside and outside parts) the same for a 69 Camaro BB?
|
Re: BB heater box
The outside is. The inside I am not 100% sure because of heater control cable position differences between Nova/Camaro and things like that but I do know that there are 2 different styles. One is for console cars and the other is for non console cars. I'm sure someone else can fill in the rest.

Re: BB heater box
Thanks for the info Tommy - the inside box is what im more concerned with.

Re: BB heater box
Wilma - where are you ?????? I know that you know the answer to this??

Re: BB heater box
I believe the inside is the same as well but the cables are probably different. I hope this helps.

You're not the only one looking for him........LOL Ken |
Re: BB heater box
From what I've seen, the inside heater box and heater control cables are the same between a 69 Camaro and 69 Nova. The same applies to the box cover on the firewall.
Regarding console or non-console, there is a difference in the plastic ducts that are screwed to the box. |

Tommy https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif [/ QUOTE ] From what I know, there are no differences in the heater control postions between the Nova and Camaro, the dash units were the same, as was the postion of the heater controls...at least when comparing 69-74 Nova to 69 Camaro. Heater boxes should be a direct interchange between these years. |
Re: BB heater box
Thanks everyone for your insight and responsiveness...

Re: BB heater box
I agree with that Brandon.. I see no difference other than vent style. But a big block box will only house a B/B heater core. The inside dimensions are different..BKH

Re: BB heater box
Like Brian said there is about a 1/4 difference in the heater core area, vrs A small block. I believe he has a picture posted somewhere showing the difference.
|
Re: BB heater box
The 1/4" diff is correct. I believe the current BB heater cores are 1/4" smaller to fit into the SB boxes??? Yes / No??
I just removed the heater core from Benjamin's car to check the date code - it's original, still had some nice green anti-freeze in it! |
Re: BB heater box
There is a picture of this difference on this site under the super car workshop section - i saw it several weeks ago trolling for other info....if i can find it again ill post it.

Re: BB heater box
I had some old part numbers for BB heater cores and there were some differences in numbers and measurements between Camaro and Nova. I think the 67-68 camaro and 68 Nova used the same one and the 69 camaro and 69-70 Nova shared the other. I believe one is just a little bigger than the other.

Re: BB heater box
What about the inside box for an AC car? Are s/b and b/b different? I used a b/b suitcase with a s/b inside box as I thought they were the same. I bought what I thought was a b/b heater core, and I know everything fit.

Re: BB heater box
The CRG also has a very informative topic on BB vs. SB heater boxes and components.

Re: BB heater box

Re: BB heater box
Ed,
Damned if I can find it now! I'll keep looking. Steve |

I don't think that's on the CRG site.... |
Re: BB heater box
Kurt,
If anyone would know - you would! I swear I read it there though https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif But as I mentioned, I can't find it anywhere. Possibly, it was a thread started by a member instead of a Research Topic. Sorry for the run-around Ed. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif Steve |
