I have Hagerty. They are pretty decent pricewise. The best price that I found.

My other car (BB 67 Impala) I have a standard policy through a regular carrier but it was a hassle getting the proper stated value. Im going throught the quote process right now with the specialty carriers.

MK has great rates and NO hassles Tammy has been great to deal with, I switched from Haggerty and saved 1,200 per year total on my cars with the exact same coverage. Good Luck Doug

Why go anywhere other than M&K? They write policies for folks from this site every day...that should tell ya something!

Re: Classic/Muscle Insurance

As I stated earlier MK is a sponsor of this site and you should consider them. Tammy was unable to insure my cars for underwriting reasons so I insure with Hagerty. The true test of an insurer is customer service when you have a claim. Here's an experience I've had.

My 16 year old son's car was in the shop and he needed something to drive to school so I let him drive my 38 Chevy Streetrod to school for 2 days. On the second day 3 girls asked for a ride home from school and of course he couldn't say no. The car had 2 front seats and some space behind them. So against my rules and the law he gives the girls a ride and decides its time to show off as they pull out of a gas station. He over accelarates and looses control and hits an SUV and flips that vehicle over. Thankfully nobody is hurt except for some cuts and bruises. I had only gotten the policy from Hagerty about 3 months before and wondered how this was going to play out. My car was insured for 40K, they SUV he hit was totaled for around 25K, there was about $1500 in doctors bills and $500 in towing. Hagerty paid me $40K, the other guy got $25K and everyone was reimbursed for medical and towing. They took my statement once, never spoke with my son, called and got the police report and wrote all the checks within 10 days. They didn't cancel me and have told me that any liscensed driver that I allow to drive is covered in my car. All this for a $400 yearly premium.

If you can find a more responsive and better rated Insurance company then buy it! But you will still wonder till the day you have a claim how they are going to come through.

Been there, done that!

Man,

I thought I had a problem. Well my new ride is an lt1z and the impala im sure will be a temptation for my son who will be driving soon so I guess after hearing your story it was a good idea to ask what other people thought.

But in the end the metal can be replaced, but thank god no one was hurt bad.

Thanks for the info

Carl

I have nothing but the best to say about Tammy and MK. She shopped my insurance to her different markets this renewal and saved me some serious coin. When I had an issue with my driver a couple years ago, the service was prompt and responsive. She is great to work with.

MK and Tammy have been great! No problems that warranted a claim yet. But they are real nice to deal with and quick to help.

I'm with Haggerty thru Tammy. She prices everybody. You need "agreed" value, not "stated".

[/ QUOTE ] That and you need to be sure you are not limited to show or repair facllity driving. If you get your car hit or stolen in a restaurant parking lot, most will tell you they wont cover it. I have Nationwide and they are much better than any specialty insurance ive had or inquired about as far as price AND limitations on driving . You dont need specialty insurance for a collector car,in fact there isnt any advantage to it that ive seen ,and i comparison shop when i buy a quart of milk.

Re: Classic/Muscle Insurance

I have Hagerty because not many "collector car" insurance companies will insure a newer, modified car like my 2001 Camaro SS. Hagerty does along with my '70 Chevelle and 2 of my wife's cars. Plus I told them my Camaro goes all over the place on the Hot Rod Power Tour every year for at least 3,000 miles in one week and they had no problem with that.
Also I know a few people who have unfortunately had to file claims with Hagerty and have had excellent service.

I too have Haggerty.
I contacted Tammy for a quote and she told me she too is a Haggerty agent, and quoted me the same fair quote I already pay. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: Classic/Muscle Insurance

Tammy @ MK insures my 2003 SSR with Cinncinati as the underwriter, she also is flexible with miles driven such as 1K, 3K or 5K and again all my cars have agreed value. She finds the best coverage for YOUR situation. Doug https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif I am not sure she knows about that https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif

Re: Classic/Muscle Insurance

Well, It looks like MK is the winner. Did alot of talking to a lot of companies and MK was the one who could give us the limits we wanted at a reasonable price whith the least amount of loopholes. Now these were not the cheapest options but they were very reasonable for the coverage and for the quality of companies we were able to deal with. Now thats not to say this route is right for everyones individual needs but for us it was the logical solution. Thanks for the help guys

You guys are getting better rates than 124.00 a year to drive 5000 miles with no restrictions and a 65K agreed value on a 40 year old car, with no appraisals needed just photos??I know the yearly appraisals alone can cost more than the yearly premiums..Im sure too its a regional thing[price] as well

Re: Classic/Muscle Insurance

I didn't need an appraisal for my Chevelle...just photos...

Tamera Perto at MK with Hagerty insurance is the best. My experience with Grundy was terrible.

I also have Hagerty since 1994. Never a problem..and when I wanted to increase the coverage. I made a phone call and it was done.
