Looking for Auto Transport recommendations
I'm looking to transport a 69 Chevelle from Albuquerque to Northern Ohio. If anyone has any recommendations for a reliable auto transporter, I'd appreciate the information. Open carrier is sufficient for this haul.
Thanks. Phil Woj. |
Re: Looking for Auto Transport recommendations
I have used "Blue Highways" and have been pleased. Here is their website....

Re: Looking for Auto Transport recommendations
Phil,
Be advised as the winter months approach (or so I am told) that even tho you may not be concerned with covering your car in transport because it needs to be restored, you should consider the block possibly freezing and possibly cracking. |
Re: Looking for Auto Transport recommendations
Sam,
Thank you for the advice. I see you haven't forgotten about the climate north of PHX. I asked the seller to check the coolant to see if it has the proper protection. I may even run out to check the car myself before it is shipped. I had an elCamino shipped to me about 6 years ago, California to Ohio, during the month of November. It took two weeks and the trucker went through two major snow storms, I was a little restless to say the least. It made it just fine though. I'll check with Blue Highways tomorrow. Thank you for the responses. Phil Woj. |

Mike,
If it ran, it would definitely be road trip time. Yes, I would buy the gas and beer. Phil Woj. |

Re: Looking for Auto Transport recommendations
i shipped a Chevelle to Lake Arrowhead ca a few years ago,and the buyer had Fed Ex Custom Critical pick it up.
at that time, the driver said it cost $1500 for immediate delivery.it was a Kenworth with a 24 foot box. |
Re: Looking for Auto Transport recommendations
Tony,
I haven't come up with a transporter yet. I'm giving a local broker a few more days and then I'm on to the next one. I am interested in what you are doing. I wouldn't mind driving up to MI to pick up my car. Let me know if you find something that works for you. Phil Woj. |
Re: Looking for Auto Transport recommendations
Thanks Phil. I discovered the seller in Cal was a whole lot less than truthful, so I won't be buying his car. I did buy one in MO though and passport is going to haul it for me. They were 2-3 hundred less than most of the other guys.
I just got an email from Fred at Concours. He has a truck out west with room for 2 cars. May be worth a shot to give him a call. Thurs pickup with Dec 20 drop dates. |
Re: Looking for Auto Transport recommendations
Gents,
Thanks for all the recommendations. I went through a local broker and he set me up with "Hot Rod Transport" (330) 201-6154, out of Orrville, Ohio. The price was reasonable and service excellent. Car was shipped from Albuquerque to Cleveland and took only three days. I'd recommend them. Phil Woj |
