site glitch or...?
I'm having a helluva time trying to make posts https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gif...the pages keep hanging in limbo after I hit the submit button. It toom me 4 tries just a few minutes ago, and I even closed out windows and dumped my TIF's after the 2nd try.
I noticed also that the threads I've read aren't showing up as read anymore unless I hit the "refresh page" button. Never used to do that before, and I'm not having trouble on any of the other sites I visit. Anyone else having troubles? Eric *EDIT* It took me 2 tries to make this post |
Re: site glitch or...?
Eric, I have not been experiencing any problems..

Re: site glitch or...?
It seems to be working a little better now, the pages aren't hanging up as bad, but it's still not marking posts as read where it was before unless I manually refresh the page.

Re: site glitch or...?
Eric,
I am having the same problem with the threads not being marked as read unless I hit refresh. Nils |

Me too...Rob? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: site glitch or...?
Eric, the same thing happened to me last week and all of a sudden I had three posts and two had to be deleted. I think this web site is getting too big for it's servers. Not only that, sometimes you can't access a thread and are prompted to try later. Whats that? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: site glitch or...?
You guys having troubles might try dumping your cookies, rebooting, and then logging back in...it's amazing what a corrupted cookie will disrupt:

Re: site glitch or...?
Still the same problem after clearing the cookies. I have to manually refresh to have the thread marked as read.
It is happening on 3 other computers as well. Nils |
Re: site glitch or...?
What OS are you guys running? I'm thinking it's a browser/security settings thing??
|
Re: site glitch or...?
Windows XP Pro with all the latest patches
|
Re: site glitch or...?
Ditto.
Mine was fine until the recent board clean-up when it was down for a while. I started having problems immediately afterwards. |
Re: site glitch or...?
Do the pages load slowly? If yes, when one loads slowly, scroll down to the very bottom of the forum page and copy the generation/query information if ya would...it'll look like this:
Generated in 0.035 seconds in which 0.015 seconds were spent on a total of 13 queries. Zlib compression enabled. |
Re: site glitch or...?
Rob,
The pages are not loading slowly. here is the message from the bottom Generated in 0.029 seconds in which 0.005 seconds were spent on a total of 12 queries. Zlib compression enabled. Thanks, Nils |
Re: site glitch or...?
I'm on XP also...fully up to date https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: site glitch or...?
Ok, make sure your browsers are set *not* to cache pages...sounds like that's the problem, as y'all say a page refresh solves it...oh, and never use your "back" button, as that kind messes with things also...either use the site's navigation links or simply keep moving forward!
|
Re: site glitch or...?
Whatever it is it is different than it used to be. I used to use the back button and the page would be current.
|
Re: site glitch or...?
Same here Charley https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif If someone made a new post while I was reading one, I'd hit Back and it would be there.

Re: site glitch or...?
It's definitely on the server end of things...I just reformatted and 'clean installed' WIN XP on Holly's computer...wiped everything clean...and I mean everything (with the help of Denis for a question or two https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif)
After reinstalling WIN XP and hooking up the wireless internet...the first place that I went to was Yenko.net. Had the same issues with not refreshing as I do on my computer. I also tried my neighbors computer and the one at work, too! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif |
Re: site glitch or...?
In your IE window...click on:
Tools-->Internet Options Under "Browsing History", click on "Settings" Under "Temporary Internet Files", where it says "Check for newer versions of stored pages" select "Every time I visit the webpage"...then click "ok". Close your browser window(s), then see if that doesn't help. I'm gonna guess the security updates on the newer version are a little more finicky than the previous version... |
Re: site glitch or...?
My internet options are already set as such, have been since as far back as I can remember.
I just noticed something...I clicked on a link in one of the threads here just a few minutes ago, and when I closed out the tab from the link and backed out of the thread I was viewing, it showed up as read, like it used to do. No luck afterwards, though, still not showing threads as read unless I manually refresh. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif When you mentioned security settings...are you referring to those on the site? (assuming it has something to do with the recent hacker attempt?) Eric |
Re: site glitch or...?
Mine was set on " automatically" and I changed it to "Every time I visit the webpage" but it made no difference.
|
Re: site glitch or...?
Hmmm...I'm not sure what the problem is then, because the update from 6.5.2 to 6.5.5 only closed some security loopholes, didn't change any of the functionality files at all? I'll keep thinking...

Re: site glitch or...?
I cant get on at night it is very, very slow like the worst dial-up and if I get on the pages load slower than Belair shipping anything...just me and my network routing???
|
Re: site glitch or...?
What time at night Bud? I think Rob & Co. may have the server set to back up around midnnight AZ time...
I've noticed tremendous slowdowns on page loading speed then...that is...when I'm able to stay awake that long... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif All other times...it's quick! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: site glitch or...?
Backup is 0200 CST...

Re: site glitch or...?
Logged in this morning, only to see "no new post" bulbs lit, which I knew was BS 'cause I hadn't been on since mid-morning yesterday...so I logged out, then immediately logged back in, and PRESTO, all is well...is that how it's working for anyone else?
|
Re: site glitch or...?
guessing its net raffic in general..its about 7/8pm after I get home from work, last night wasnt bad but slow, other days gave up and watched youtube https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif
|
Re: site glitch or...?
I think your earlier guess about network routing is probably the culprit, Bud...cable modem, I assume?
|
Re: site glitch or...?
comcast cable. normally fast..no worries was just curious. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif
|
Re: site glitch or...?
Cable is susceptible to lag during high peak hours, not only from internet traffic but also television traffic...you said it's slow around 7 or 8pm, which is primetime, which makes sense as to *why* it slows.
As for the refreshing/post read problem, I'm still digging... |

Re: site glitch or...?
I noticed something else a little unusual last night;
Previously, when I clicked on an attachemnt in a thread, when I clicked my "back" button to return to the thread, it would automatically default me to the very last post of the thread even if the post I was just reading (the one with the attachment) was several pages before the end of the thread. (hope that made sense, hard to explain that clearly) https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif Now it's not doing that, it's returning me back to the post with the attachment. That part of this mystery glitch I don't mind so much. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif Eric |
