Youtube
I am slowly but surely getting addicted to Youtube. I am finding stuff on there I haven't seen since I was knee-high to a sparkplug. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
What I'm really surprised by is a lot of the amateur musical talent on there. (I'm a musician myself) Here's one example: Anybody up for a little Boogie Woogie Piano? (this kid has obscene talent...his first 4 vids are his best IMO) I could put up music links all night, so for the sake of brevity, I'll leave you with this outtake clip from the Carol Burnett show. What's on y'all's favorites lists? Eric |
Re: Youtube
That's TALENT!
Sure as heck wish I could do that! |
Re: Youtube
That makes two of us!

Re: Youtube
There will never, ever be another SRV (my primary guitar influence, God rest his soul), or Robin Trower.
Seems like today, all guitarists care about is speed playing. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with "shredding" (as I guess it's called these days), but it does get boring rather quickly. Compare that style to, say, B.B. King, who can hold one note for 16 measures, and it'll bring a tear to your eye. THAT'S what music should be about, not flash and fretboard gymnastics. Speaking of B.B., here is a rather well-known little number featuring "The King", and another rather talented guitarist, Gary Moore. Enjoy. Eric |

Hold on; I'm still in the Robin Trower - Live - 1973
Great memories. Thanks https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: Youtube
As a musician and a small time producer I appreciate everything (except rap) The difference is these guys can do everything that the best quitarists have done and whole lot that no one else can. Their work on the fretboard is not rambling but carfully planned work through complicated scales and emulation of the masters from bach to SRV.
Its all good....... Try a little G3 hendrix https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vlAPYdv5e8 some mellow joe satriani https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vVH78GXmaI |

Gotta be Jack White of the White Stripes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fM2qhG8mA4 Can never count out the McCready/Gossard twin axes in the ever-potent Pearl Jam, my favorite live band. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4K045Z2AZgM (wait for the neat Zep inclusion in the solo) |

Re: Youtube
Here is the trailer to my favorite B-movie of all-time. This one's so bad it's good lol.
Here is the trailer for the B-movie of the first B-movie on the DVD (would that technically make it a "C-movie"?? lol!) The "special effects" on these two movies are absolutely hysterical. As an added bonus, there is a feature soundtrack on the C-movie by none other than Neil Sedaka, and it's almost as bad as the movie itself. (Neil must've been hurting for rent money or something. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif ) I actually bought these on DVD. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Eric |

Anyone up for a little SRV? Speaking of when MTV used to play real music...how about this? I still can't watch this one without getting a lump in my throat. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif RIP Stevie. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif Eric |

Re: Youtube
As I said, I'm a guitarist myself, been playing about 25 years. I cut my teeth learning the tracks off "Texas Flood."
I have a special place in my soul for SRV. Long strange story, short version...I wound up seeing SRV the same night I lost my mom 22 years ago. There's a LOT of bittersweet memories I have tied up in his music. Eric |
Re: Youtube
How about a little more Boogie Woogie piano.
Those kids sure have some moves! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif Eric |
Re: Youtube
Wow Eric... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif
Music is a huge part of my life. When I am depressed...I put on some good music. I can remember the big events that occured in my life...and the music that was popular at that time... Guess I'm weird. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif |
Re: Youtube
OMG, thanks for that Stevie Ray/Jeff Beck MTV video of "Goin Down". Truth be told, I'm not a dedicated fan of either, but that whole thing flat out SMOKES.
Reminded me of one of my favorite dueling guitarist videos, including this one featuring James Burton and a host of other worthy candidates: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yguERAkjaic As long as we're on guitar stuff again, here's a clip featuring the guitar solo that hits me the hardest, its as close as a guitar can get to expressing an aching hunger. Song was written by Kris Kristofferson, its called "I've got to have you" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ertn_x_nvxo Don't mind the fan video, or question the singer. Just wait until the solo at about 3:30 or so. |

(Them boys were silly back then lol) Nice to see another person "gets it" re" the 2nd guitar solo...it ain't all about fretboard gymnastics. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif Eric |
