David Lindsley's 1966 396/375 SS Chevelle
I got the email below from Dave regarding this really cool Chevelle
Here's some pics of the 66 Chevelle SS 396/375. There are still a few misc. items to do but it is running great and I'm having fun driving it to some of the local shows. I did take it to the Labor Day Cruise at OC Fairgrounds which is a 3 day event and it was the 25th year since it started. The event gets about 2500/3000 cars a year. The Chevelle won Best Musclecar. The class includes all 1960 thru 1972 cars in stock, modified and custom. I would appreciate it if you would put this on the SYC members cars. As always keep up the great work and participation in the car hobby. It's guys like you that make it fun to be part of and not taking it over the top and you encourage others to want to belong. I'll call you so we can talk as it's good to hear your voice and your positive attitude!!!!!!!!!!!! Later Buddy, Dave I'd like to reiterate what Dave said about some little things still to be done when these older pics were taken... I have seen this car up close and personal...and it is awesome! Finally...if you notice that the Chevelle has Dana frames on it...they are just on there because Dave thinks that they are really cool-not because the Chevelle came from Dana. I think they look awesome on the car! Here are a few of MANY pics that Dave sent to me. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...indsley/13.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Lindsley/8.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Lindsley/7.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Lindsley/6.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Lindsley/5.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Lindsley/4.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Lindsley/3.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Lindsley/1.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Lindsley/2.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...indsley/14.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...indsley/15.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...indsley/21.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...indsley/19.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...indsley/20.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...indsley/16.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...indsley/17.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...indsley/18.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Lindsley/9.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...indsley/10.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...indsley/11.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...indsley/12.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...indsley/22.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...indsley/23.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...indsley/24.jpg |

Re: David Lindsley's 1966 396/375 SS Chevelle
This is a newbie question, did these cars come with an SS396 emblem on the rear tailpanel like that? I've never noticed one there b4 - but never really looked very hard.
Nice paint and body on this car, that hood looks like a mirror! |
Re: David Lindsley's 1966 396/375 SS Chevelle
Great looking 66...Love the color and the wheel/tire combo! Add a couple of Dana frames...Sweet!

Z-16s in '65) The grille and tail panel badges indicated that while the rear quarters only call out "Super Sport". |
Re: David Lindsley's 1966 396/375 SS Chevelle
I believe '66 L78 Chevelles and '66 L72 big cars were excempt from haveing smog pumps in California.

[/ QUOTE ] Also the '66 Malibu SS was still built in Canada w/ SB's and the 'SS' emblem on the 1/4's for us hosers...and shipped to other non US markets too!. Nothing to do w/ Beaumonts which are their own story in itself.. Dave's '66 is a sweet piece indeed...absolutely love the painted steelies/dog dish ribby redlines combo too!. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...-I-Have-It.gif ~ Pete |

I, too, have seen this car in person. I would be afraid to drive it on the street, it's that nice!! Well, all of Dave's cars are nice, so I'm not saying much. Thanks for bringing them out for all of us to enjoy Dave. Just for the record, he turned me down for a trade, my Nova for this Chevelle!!

New to the board, so apologize for the dumb question. Who does Dave's work on this beauty? The paint is so nice that the reflections in the pictures threw me for a loop because at first glance I thought the fence posts were dings...

Re: David Lindsley's 1966 396/375 SS Chevelle
American Muscle Cars Inc. has done the majority of all Dave Lindsley's work and have built award winning cars for him. His collection of cars are some of the finest in the country. The 1966 Chevelle is at our facility at this time improving on some areas that Dave was not happy with, he is a perfectionist in the true sence of the word. Dave purchased this car already painted so we did not actually paint this car, but again we are improving on it.

Re: David Lindsley's 1966 396/375 SS Chevelle
Thanks to all for your kind words.
I have been using American Muscle Cars for 10+ years. They have done several frame-off restorations and many other frame-on resto's, exterior/interior detailing, driveline rebuilding and undercarriage detailing. Sal the owner of AMC has always met the top level of quality I expect. I currently have 3 cars at AMC. including a 69 Nova SS L78 for a full frame-on resto, a 66 Chevelle SS L78 and a 69 Chevelle SS L34 for minor paint/exterior detailing. I am also having a 67 Camaro RS/SS I bought in Scottsdale last week delivered to AMC for inspection so I can decide what I want to do with it. I would highly recommend AMC for any project you need done to your classic car. Dave L. SoCal |

Obviously, they are lucky to have a customer like you! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Re: David Lindsley's 1966 396/375 SS Chevelle
I think both parties are lucky......a customer who is willing to pay for quailty and a shop that is able to delivery it! It makes a good formula.

Re: David Lindsley's 1966 396/375 SS Chevelle
Thanks for the info Sal and Dave. Sal, what is the best way(s) of contacting you? Do you have a website I could look at? I would like to speak with you regarding a '72 El Camino SS I am considering purchasing.
