looking for 70 bucket seat plastic backs and sides.
needs to be Ivory and in real good shape also need wind lace.

Hi Donnie:
I have it all , in fact two or three times over but there is a problem with it . There is something wrong with the plastic composition in my mind right from the factory with this color. Being up North the cars rusted out but with no heat the interior pieces are the best you will find all expect this color for some reason.I parted 3 70/71's with what I will call white interior.To me the 70 stuff is parchmant and the 71 ivory but I am no expert. All of the plastic pieces on the side of the buckets, the rear and front arm rests etc have like a white chalky dust on them and when you rub the plastic it breaks down right in your fingers. The black pieces put away the same time in the same box are mint.
My brother went through this also with the white interior in his impala and ended up using repo which was not what he wanted to do but we could not get the originals to stop breaking down. We tried cleaning first then repainting and nothing seemed to work.
Is this something common and can it be fixed so these items are usable??

At that time, the only plastic color that held up to UV light and heat was black. None of the other colors (white, green, blue, etc) had a UV stabilizer in the plastic. There really isn't a whole that that can be done to save that dried-out chalky stuff.

Thanks Allen for the explaination. I have only seen it on white up here. I know I have green and red items and they are fine and it just seems to be the white that really got hit hard. We would not have a lot of heat here and some of this stuff has not seen the sun since 1976 which is probally why the green and red are still ok. Donnie - One other route to consider if you don't want to go the repro route is to find a tan/saddle set and dye them with SEM paint. A lighter color such as this is easier to cover with the SEM paint. The backs, bottoms, and headrests in my ragtop in the pic were all tan pieces that I dyed with SEM Super White. Note that the pearl appearance was only found on soft trim pieces such as seat covers and arm rest pads. Hard plastic trim and headrests were a solid white color.

I have NOS seat inserts for a 70 chevelle pearl white
bucket seat bottoms and bucket seat backs,also have
rear seat sets for bucket and bench.Just like these only white
