Need help on 67 camaro with 427.
1 Attachment(s)
My brother looked at a 67 camaro today with a ce 427. It has power disc brakes and turbo 400. Trying to figure out what car was orginally or if it might be a conversion. I know disc brakes and turbo 400 were not too common on 67 camaros. Any help is appreciated. Here is pic of cowl tag.

We need more info, #'s on the carb, intake, block, heads etc. 12 bolt rear?

Re: Need help on 67 camaro with 427.
In my uneducated opinion, the 2MG is a good sign for the LOS body. Wasn't this code on the LOS cars used for the TH400?

Re: Need help on 67 camaro with 427.
The car is not an SS. No code for SS on trim tag.
W= Tinted windshield L= Fold down rear seat Group 2 M= Powerglide G= Console Nice color E E is Deepwater Blue. Rick H. |
Re: Need help on 67 camaro with 427.
From what I can find 2MG is turbo 400 for a los built car not a powerglide and a turbo 400 was only available in big block in 67?

Later, the 4P code (350/295), 4N (396/325), 4K (396/375) and 4L (Z/28) was stamped on the trim tag. My 03C LOS '67 RS/SS 4N Camaro has 2M denoting the Th-400 and the Camaro Research Group confirmed that the Powerglide transmission code was used to indicate the Th-400 in 4N Camaros. Not sure if NOR 4N Camaros got that code. The SS 350 was available from the beginning of the model year while the other three (the two 396s and the Z) came out "mid-year" in November and December. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. |
Re: Need help on 67 camaro with 427.
Seeing that the car's tag does not designate a big block 4N or 4K I don't see this car having the T400.
LOS used the 2M code for all the automatics, powerglide or T400. Norwood used 2Z for the T400 option. With that late of build (O6B) the tag should have a designation in group 4 if it was any type of SS, BB or SB. Get the build code of the tag on the tranny. That would help. Rick |

Re: Need help on 67 camaro with 427.
This is June 67 car very late car if it was a ss it would have 4 code on it. Looks like 454 valve covers and the heater hoses look like there going to the end of the heater box not the center. I would say it was a 327 glide car to begin with.

Re: Need help on 67 camaro with 427.
Just a couple of things, my 67 SS350 has the same 2mg for its powerglide console, with the 4P for SS350 , the build date is dec 66 LOS. Hey didn't anyone notice the 68 gauge cluster, and the aftermarket, dealer power brake booster !!!

Re: Need help on 67 camaro with 427.
The motor certainly does look interesting. I believe that to be the Hi-Perf factory hi-rise aluminum intake with the firing number polished off. That would probably mean rectangle port heads and maybe some other goodies. Keep digging.
