Re: 1986 Buick Regal, 604 hp, 93 Octane 464 ci BBB
I really, really like that car! Would love to see how fast it is after chucking that Thermoquad in the nearest dumpster and putting on a 950 Holley.

[/ QUOTE ] Well I'm glad you mentioned that.If I were to chuck the thermoquad into the dumpster in favor of the 950 Holley this motor will make 8 hp less. Jim Weise at TriShield Performance did just that to prove a point.Granted, the snappy, crisp feel isn't as sharp as the Holley, but as far as street manners go this is what the engine seems to like. |

Re: 1986 Buick Regal, 604 hp, 93 Octane 464 ci BBB
Well, I fooled around with one of those Thermoquads about 20 years ago without success. My friends father was an engineer at Carter here in St. Louis and would bring them home to test on the local hot rods. I do remember it being the LOUDEST carb I've ever heard! I wanna say that I've even seen pictures of Dick Harrell's #1 ZL-1 Camaro with two of them on top of a tunnel ram. Aren't they like 1000CFM?

Very nice looking Buick. Not to hijack the thread but Thermoquads come in different cfm sizes and when you get one working right you will chunk a holley! LOL

Re: 1986 Buick Regal, 604 hp, 93 Octane 464 ci BBB
Guys, what am I doing wrong? Why hasn't this car sold yet?
Is the asking price too high? Is it an ugly car? Is this the wrong forum? Is it the time of year? Is it the economy? |
Re: 1986 Buick Regal, 604 hp, 93 Octane 464 ci BBB
I hope you have it listed on other sites as well. It seems like a lot of car for the money. It is going to be a specific buyer that is in the market for a car like that. I would think some of the guys on the turbo Buick site may even be interested. Or even eBay.
You never know what kind of car someone on this site may be interested in, but generally, there are not that many late model cars for sale here. |
Re: 1986 Buick Regal, 604 hp, 93 Octane 464 ci BBB
It's dirt cheap to the right person....
|
Re: 1986 Buick Regal, 604 hp, 93 Octane 464 ci BBB
I would run it on ebay if you have not already tried that route. I sold 2 high dollar late model cars (911 Cab, M3 Cab) on ebay in the last month and got top dollar and hassle free transactions.
|
Re: 1986 Buick Regal, 604 hp, 93 Octane 464 ci BBB
I think Ebay would be a great vehicle to sell your car. One thing though, don't forget to include video of that cool car running in your ad, it will help. Good luck! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: 1986 Buick Regal, 604 hp, 93 Octane 464 ci BBB
You know, I've been really tempted to pull the trigger on this car myself. I'm just running out of room here at the house. How'd you like to be cruising with your woman in your Corvette ZO6 and get embarassed by this Buick Regal? Explain that to her! I've had very similar cars to this and this Regal is the true definition of a "fun car". This is the car you buy to burn some serious rubber with while you leave the matching-numbers '69-whatever covered up in the garage. Neat car.

Re: 1986 Buick Regal, 604 hp, 93 Octane 464 ci BBB
Would you just stop mentally masturbating yourself and
come get this car. Then I can focus on getting back into the Chevy scene. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif |
Re: 1986 Buick Regal, 604 hp, 93 Octane 464 ci BBB
Just asking a question.
How much could you really drive this car on the street with the block half filled with hard block? Seems like it would overheat big time, Looks like a fun car. |

[/ QUOTE ] Dave, Not trying to answer for you.... Dave drives his car every Saturday, as we all attend a local cruise in Lombard, IL. It gets mighty hot here in the summer months....90 degrees plus. I have never seen Dave have any problems with his Buick. Dan. |
Re: 1986 Buick Regal, 604 hp, 93 Octane 464 ci BBB
-----Vern,,,Hardblocking a block half way up the cylinder walls does not compromise engine temp as much as you think it would. The heat is all at the top of the cylinders where the explosions are. Hard to believe but true.......Bill S

Re: 1986 Buick Regal, 604 hp, 93 Octane 464 ci BBB
I have had zero heat issues with this car.As long as it is not raining this car is driven 21 miles too work and back each way every day in the summer. The hottest this car has ever been was in a local cruise night at Downers Grove where the temp gauge touched 173-175 deg in train stopping
traffic. As soon as your moving again it will recover to 165 quickly. By the way, I have had several emails regarding this engine. I will tell you that,if you go to Trishieldperf.com Go to the Stage 1 Level 2 engine package you will find this exact engine photographed and dynoed in his advertisement. That should ease some minds as to the level of quality Mr.Jim Weise provides his Buick customers.Hope this helps. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif |

Re: 1986 Buick Regal, 604 hp, 93 Octane 464 ci BBB
How is it on gas? HAHA. Just kidding. Sweet Regal. Love the wheels. Have you posted your car on V8BUICK.COM? I agree that Ebay is probably the best way to get full exposure..

Re: 1986 Buick Regal, 604 hp, 93 Octane 464 ci BBB
Umm......How about 8-10 mpg when your not in it.
I do have it on the Turbo Buick boards with little to no action. They are all pretty much die hard turbo guys. |
