Cruising in Jönköping last night
1 Attachment(s)
After having waited for months to get the car delivered(the Swedish company that shipped the car messed things up), my friend Johnnie at last got the car ready for some cruising at the end of the summer.
This is the car that Donn (fastbowtie) sold him. Johnnie is VERY happy with it ! I must say that it has a very nice sound. You wouldn´t belive it has a 307 under the hood. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif |

This is where Johnnie and Berit lives, and it will be the cars home from now on.
The -67 in front belongs to our friend Hans. He put a 396 in it not long ago. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif The flag is up on the garage. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif |

I which I had a better picture of this Chevelle. It has a very nice paintjob from the seventies, and a "Winters" tri-carb intake.

Maybe this is what they're confused with. Man, you've got some cool American Iron up there! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: Cruising in Jönköping last night
That IS a special one. Its a '57 or '58 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham. They were very much factory customs, with 4dr hardtop styling, suicide doors, air suspension, and brushed stainless steel roofs. They only made 704 of them during those two years of production. Why so exclusive? The cars listed price in 1957 was $13,074! You could have bought a Coupe DeVille for the wife, a Bel Air hardtop for yourself, and a Vette for weekends for about the same total money.
They made Cadillac Broughams for two more years, but they were substantially redesigned. They made about 200 during '59/'60, with final assembly farmed out to Pininfarina. Same $13K nosebleed price. Neat cars Anders! I may have to visit one of these years. I like the mix of a foreign land with this hard core American car culture, both musclecars and 50's rods. Thanks for sharing! |
Re: Cruising in Jönköping last night
Cool shots Anders. Thanks for showing us how the Swedes do it.https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif How much longer before the cruising season is over?
|
Re: Cruising in Jönköping last night
Very cool pics, love seeing muscle cars no matter where they are in the world! Must be getting cold over there already? Most people are wearing long pants and jackets!
|
Re: Cruising in Jönköping last night
Temperature was around 55 to 60 degrees F during the cruising so you really needed pants. Ofcourse there where still chicks with very little clothes. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif
I would say that the cruising season is over by now. There aren´t any big meetings left to attend this year. |

I´m sorry to say Donn, but being the convertible guy he is, Johnnie just had to bye this -67 off ebay this spring. Another Swedish guy is happy with your -68 right now, and Johnnie is all smiles in this one. The owner lived in Rochester N.Y-state. It´s a twelve year old restoration that holds upp pretty good. There are some parkinglot dings but that´s just fine if you want to drive the car, like Johnnie wants to. It has a 1966-67 Chevy II thickwall-block 283, and the engine runs fine. No disappointments here !

Didn't one of you guys get that low miler '67 4 Dr. Biscayne a few months back too?. Nice seeing how much you guys appreciate the B-body cars over there!. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif [ QUOTE ] There's a local 'urban legend' about some stainless roof '57 Chevys too. Maybe this is what they're confused with. [/ QUOTE ] Dennis, years ago I remember reading in Cars & Parts about the El Morocco 56/57 Chevys...could it possibly have been one of these that urban legend came from?. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=ht...l%3Den%26sa%3DN https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif ~ Pete |
Re: Cruising in Jönköping last night
Yeah I've known about the El Moroccos for years but the "local" car was rumored to be a "special production" Bel Air Sport Coupe, with a prototype engine. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif The car just sold last year and at the time of the sale the rumors were quelched once and for all. Just a standard Bel Air, and the engine wasn't anything special either,...... however there were some F.I. parts in the garage with the car.
Just another case where stories grow everytime they're passed on. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif |
Re: Cruising in Jönköping last night
[b] I don't believe any El Morocco's came with a S/S roof -

Yes Pete, our friend Hans bought it. Hans is the guy with the blue 69 Z/28 and the yellow X66 with the NOS Yenko-block ZL1 in it.

Here is another Cadillac Eldorado Brougham in Sweden. This one is a 58. The pictures were taken in 1977. Bengt Nilsson who owned it was a very talented Classic Chevy restorer. Mabye he brought it with him when he later moved to the United States.
