yes it was, check out the new pic, this car was body off, several issues (more like a 100) in which whom ever restored did not know how to, yes I want 58K for it, this vehicle was at no exspence and no cut corners, this car is one of the most politcally correct cars i've ever seen, this is a wrap it up and open once a year that is the condition of this car, unless whom ever buys wants to drive god bless, this nova ss will stand with the best of them, can't say #1 but its up there in quality, mike

Re: 1969 nova ss
-----Mike,,,,Nice Nova!!! You are from my home town, by the way. Have you been in Medina Hardware lately??? Rick Stephenson is my brother and if you are lucky you will spot my 97 year old father sitting asleep in his chair in the office. He just wont quit!!! Sorry for the small high-jack and good luck on your sale of this beautiful Nova.......Bill S

Re: 1969 nova ss
Gotta love Cortez Silver on a Nova.....Did Dan C. paint it? If so ..Thats a killer paint job!

Re: 1969 nova ss
Mike was nice enough to send pictures of his restoration to me a couple of weeks ago. The level of detail that he has gone too is very impressive. I am certain that the car is even better in person.

Re: 1969 nova ss
Yes, that would be very odd to see a rear code written on the firewall of a Nova. The Novas are quite consistent with the crayon codes and their location, so that certainly caught my eye.
Also, the fact that it's a BT rear in an L34 is a bit unusual - as I think the standard rear for an L34 is a 3.31 ratio. When you did the resto, did you find the broadcast sheet? |
Re: 1969 nova ss
nope no broadcast sheet, had the original interior broke down and nothing, as for the BT code, goes to show you that what you want is what you get, this is the second BT code I have seen on a L34 nova car, when it comes down to it money talks, yeah steve I know he did yours and again you have a very beautiful car, danny has my 70 chevelle ss down there now, and by the way the nova sold 1 hour ago so its no longer for sell, mike https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

heres the pic of the rear code of BT hope you can see it, unless it is so unusal that it would never had happen then I guess we don't know everything, so I see that it could be ordered said the blind man, but I know i'm not blind, https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/shocked.gif mike

Re: 1969 nova ss
I was not questioning the BT code on the rear, there are lots of them around. I'm questioning the BT on the firewall, it just doesn't happen in Willow Run. The BT rear is not an impossibility with an L34, just unusual.
What's the paperwork look like? Any POP, BOS, original drivetrain stuff? I see buckets in one of the pics, any gauges? Always looking for more info on BB Novas! |
Re: 1969 nova ss
yes sir, gauges, buckets original cortez silver, all interior except for drivers seat is original without, i have many pics of door panels dash etc still showing the date code, have a piece of seat vinyl which has uniroyal on it and another makers name, let me know what you need and i'll try to help as much as possible, mike

Re: 1969 nova ss
What's the redline of the tach?
Any POP, BOS or window sticker info? |
Re: 1969 nova ss
5500 if i remember right
|
Re: 1969 nova ss
I'd love to see a b4 pic of that 'BT' code on the firewall, it will give me something to look for on my '69 - as I've not yet stripped the f/wall.
Actually, us Nova guys would love to see all of the b4 pics, not often we get a chance to view them. Even some additional pics of the completed car would be helpful to us. |
Re: 1969 nova ss
This is what I have from when I looked at the car.

Re: 1969 nova ss
nope does not look like that anymore
|
Re: 1969 nova ss
A 5500 redline tach would be from an L78 396/375HP car.. This being an L34 396/350HP car should have/probably had a 5000 redline tach....
Rich |
Re: 1969 nova ss
Pretty sure redlines are as follows:
5,000...L48 5,500...L34 6,000...L78 wilma |
Re: 1969 nova ss
Wilma, I thought they were 4500 for L48, 5000 for the L34 & 5500 for the L78 but I could be wrong..

This is a picture of a Nova Big Block Tachometer:
This tachometer has a 5000 RPM red line. This tachometer was used on the 396 / 350 HP big block V8 cars. |
Re: 1969 nova ss
I believe all L78's had the 6000 redline only.

[/ QUOTE ] Why would chevy lower the redline to 5500 on the L78 for the Nova and every one application it was 6000? I say 6000, I think your reading the tach incorrectly.... |
Re: 1969 nova ss
That last tach picture looks like a 4500 yellow line, and a 5000 redline. If it is for a small block Nova, then that would be correct, right? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif
|
Re: 1969 nova ss
The yellow/orange shading starts 500 rpm's below the redline on all 3 tachs...kind of hard to see..but that's the way it works....
besides, who cares about redlines anyway...??? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif wilma |

Re: 1969 nova ss
Wilma, redline tires are nice!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif I read an old article from 1970 that talks about the L34 and L78 cars.. They stated the redline for the L78 was 5800 rpms.. Hey I guess it is all in the way you interpret it.. There is no doubt these engines can handle more rpms than advertised!! I just thought maybe the pictures would clarify things a bit...
