What a shame to see a genuine Baldwin Motion car turned into a Pro Streeter.

I hate to say it... but I could not agree more. You could have done this to ANY Camaro from a 6 cylinder to a rust bucket. Why a REAL documented Baldwin Motion car? If this car was in stock configuration it would be worth at LEAST double what you're asking, if not more...

Good luck with the sale.

This was already a back-halved car from long ago so I can see why he went the direction he did. It would have been alot of work to bring it back. It would still be alot of work to bring it back but anything is doable. Looks like a fun car. I think Charlie Biele needs this.

Thanks Lillard, just what I need, another BM project car. Oh well, couldn't resist. Maybe it will be restored by SCR 15. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...arleySucks.gif

I don't think COPO is knocking the guy. I think he is saying he just hit the buy it now and bought the car.

Re: 1968 Baldwin motion prostreet project car

It will be a challenging project, but lots of ZL-1's started in far worse shape. The car was already a race car when the Seller purchased it and he had a dream to build the baddest Pro-Street car around. Nothing wrong with that. I'd say 1,700 HP is pretty brutal. I'm going in a different direction, and will be restoring it to as delivered condition from Motion. It has great history, bullet proof docs, plus super colors and options. Now I just need to find a way to break the "good" news to my wife......... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif

Seen it down at the JD2 chassis shop when he was having work done on it. Was hoping somone would get a hold of that car and do it right. Lots of good stuff to sell off of it though.

Charlie...You could probably finish it off as it is and re restore it later when you have all the pieces. That would be a fun car at the Reunion drags in the meantime.

Good point, as it is not too far from being driveable. It would be one hell of a ride.

As has been already said...congrats on the purchase! It will be neat to see it evolve...whenever that is.

Whttps://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gifW...good move not kicking it around to long before pulling the trigger!.
The docs sound great...it's probably best not to post them but is there any vintage pics you can share?.
Considering it's current configuration, running it in as is for a while before resto is a really cool idea...perhaps it would appease the wife if you let her do the driving?.
So as new would it have been L88 powered...and do you know yet if it was delivered w/ the A&A stinger on it?.

Re: 1968 Baldwin motion prostreet project car

It's a cool car but the word 're-body' is always going to follow it around. EVERYBODY has now seen the shape it is in with it's missing firewall, etc. It would be cool finished the way it is with factory style paint, dash, seats and maybe de-tune several hundred horses out of that motor to make it half-way reliable. There's a lot of money tied up in some fine chassis work that will be useless once it's Sawzalled out of the car. It'd be great to see a 7-second, documented Baldwin-Motion car. Probably be the fastest one of all time!

Re: 1968 Baldwin motion prostreet project car

Go the way the #1 ZL1 went for something a little different. It was a race car most of it's life and it would be a waste to undo the work that has been done to the car already. You can restore it later on. To be honest it would be a very fast car with a milder L-88 style motor that will hook up very well with that chassis work.
