C'mon now, I can think of a GM car that had solid lifters and air conditioning as an option in 1965. Let's see who has their thinking caps on today. It was also done one more time by GM about 7 years later. Anyone?

Close enough. 1972 LT-1's and 1964-65 365-horse 327's. Basically, the 375-horse fuelie motor with a factory aluminum intake manfold and a carb instead. Strange, that the General wasn't too worried about A/C compressor reliabilty with these two solid lifter engines. Anyone that has ever road in either will vouch these are two very well running engines.

Aside from the A/C on the car, the 396 came out in February of the 1965 model year. According to my cowl tag database, this car (vin 120645) and all the other Los Angeles cars I have entered with vins from approximately 119000 to 122000 were built 12A, the first week of December 1964. This makes it impossible for the car to have ever had a 396. The engine installed in the car was also assembled May 10th, 1965, about 5 months after the car was built. Either way, it is a very nicely restored 65 Bel Air.

[/ QUOTE ] As nice as the car is, what is unfortunate is that the seller is representing the car in such a way that a prospective buyer can easily be misled into thinking that this is a real-deal car. Here are some excerpts: "Incredible VERY, VERY rare find! Saw a 365 horse air car last week and it had a BIG pully on the AC compressor. No solid lifter big blocks with air, though (except for the ZL1 Maco Shark).

You know, that's really interesting about the large diameter A/C compressor pulley on 365 HP Corvettes. Slowing them down would do the trick probably. I never really paid any attention to the pulley up close though. Anybody got a picture?
