[b] This '49 Chevy was sitting in front of a home about a mile away - real fifties style,
a 4 door made to look like a 2 door with a suicide knob, beer tap shifter, curb feelers , Moon Eye's behind the front wheelwells etc. - But check out the back yard!! Re: Limerick Classic Cars AKA Rotting Hot Rods!
The 61 could become a Strickler/Jenkins tribute car. Looks to be the correct color. I know exactly where that place is. Never see anyone around. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Nice pictures! Sam

Re: Limerick Classic Cars AKA Rotting Hot Rods!
Been there many times - but only in the winter, no bees or p-ivy. Several of those cars were brought in this spring. That 'velle 'vert was from Reedman Chev. It's a tricky place to find https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif
I guess the '69 GTO is gone? It was dusk blue, blue gut, a/t, but rotted out https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif |
Re: Limerick Classic Cars AKA Rotting Hot Rods!
I can see alphanumerics on the pix of the stamp pad from the lower left of the pad slanting toward the upper right.

Re: Limerick Classic Cars AKA Rotting Hot Rods!
That '61 is a very low production model. Impala 2-dr Sedan. 'Ol Reliable-I was a Biscayne. Car seems to be in very good shape for a '61. The Impala interior in that body style is also unique, not reproduced at all. That one looks like it could be saved too! Looks like a standard 250hp 348, but for what it's worth, the grille emblem is for a 6cyl.
Thanks for the pics Dog. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif IF you go back there, grab the VIN from the driver's door jam and the cowl tag info (behind the LH inner fender on the firewall).... I'd like to add it to the dbase if possible. By the way, total production of that body style is 1711 6cyl: 4,949 1811 8cyl: 6,770 https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gifVerne |
Re: Limerick Classic Cars AKA Rotting Hot Rods!
Sam, Real hard to tell, but the last letter might be a G, indicating 250hp P/G. The valve covers, carb and distributor are all 1958.
https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gifVerne And it's a little hard to tell from the pics, but I think the heads are also '58s (no spark plug cooling passages) |

I need to call him tonight, so I'll ask him. I also need to make another trip up there soon, so I just might be able to check out that '61 in person.

Re: Limerick Classic Cars AKA Rotting Hot Rods!
[b] My son attends The Hill School up in Pottstown and today was the last day, so I was able to make
a stop back here before picking him up. I was lucky today to be able to meet the owner, Glenn Borneman a real nice guy. He was happy to show me around and answer any questions I had. He has owned this lot for quite some time, but has had enough and wants to get out before he is inundated with traffic from the new shopping center being built down the block. He said he will be getting no new cars and hopes to be out by the end of the year. Another Shame!! - Verne was correct, the '61 was originally a 6 cyl car that he put a '58 348 in. It's a B title car that was his teachers car and he has owned it for over 20 years. Its a standard bore 348 all rebuilt with a hi perf cam. The car has big block springs, new front end work and a new exhaust. The air cleaner is in the trunk and he has the 6cyl also. He is asking $13800. - - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...35/rot080a.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...435/rot090.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...435/rot093.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...435/rot085.jpg - |

Re: Limerick Classic Cars AKA Rotting Hot Rods!
Dog, Thank you very much for stopping back and providing the numbers (with photos!). Chaulk up another real one for the files! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif
The "1711" in the VIN is the key to it being a 6cyl car. I sure hope it finds a good owner who respects it's originality. It needs to have the original engine put back in and given a good clean-up. What a survivor! You just don't find original '61 interiors like that anymore.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif Verne |
Re: Limerick Classic Cars AKA Rotting Hot Rods!
Whats he want for the fairlane?
Love those nashes!! |
Re: Limerick Classic Cars AKA Rotting Hot Rods!
[b] I posted the prices of anything that I asked him about, except the '67 Firebird convertible,
it's $1200. It was a 326 but now has a Chevy 6 cyl! You can give him a call @ 610-495-7755 - his name is Glenn. He said he is looking to move it all! Heres a shot of the interior of the Fairlane - - - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...5/rot108-1.jpg - |
Re: Limerick Classic Cars AKA Rotting Hot Rods!
I wish the Firebird ragger was a '69. I think $1,200 is a steal. Buy it an Ebay it, It'll probably bring 3-5k.

Re: Limerick Classic Cars AKA Rotting Hot Rods!
[b] Stopped by for the first time this year - not much left - spoke with Glenn, he still says he's selling out
the inventory and leaving. They opened the Philadelphia Premium Outlet less then a 1/4 mile from him - he went from being somewhere it was impossible to find or get to, to right at the end of a huge mall parking lot. A shame! Here's all that's left - - - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...ily/rot036.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...ily/rot032.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...ily/rot023.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...ily/rot024.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...ily/rot031.jpg - - There were a couple of cars there I hadn't seen before - - - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...ily/rot029.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...ily/rot030.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...ily/rot034.jpg - - The rest of the old back row - - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...ily/rot026.jpg - - The '56 Buick reminded me of a customizing trick back in the sixties - Custom taillights were a big thing - You could contact Lee Plastics and get some cool taillights for your '55 Chevy for $11.95 http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Rocket074.jpg - - Or you could go to your local junkyard (yes they were called junkyards back then, and they were everywhere!) and pick up a pair of '56 Buick lenses for a buck or two! - - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...ily/rot027.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...ily/rot028.jpg - - COOL! - I think the Buick lenses actually looked better then the Lee units! |
Re: Limerick Classic Cars AKA Rotting Hot Rods!
Yep, his inventory has been shrinking over the last year. The new premium mall has not been the 'winner' they thought it would be either. Bummer for Glenn. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif
