Musclepaloozafest2007
A bunch of Joysey guys attended the Hemming Muscle Machines Musclepalooza in West Lebanon NY today. Good turnout despite the threatening weater predictions that never came true. The paid members (and some soon to be) of the site came away with a bunch of trophies.
This was my favorite plate of the event: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...8/S7000116.jpg and the car it was attached to: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...8/S7000117.jpg Neat 25,000 mile 71 340 R/T Challenger that this guy bought from the original owner who bought the car from this guys father who was a Dodge saleman in 1971! It was fun to see the horrible build quality on the car: both front fender emblems and the two hood emblems were in totally different spots from side to side. Not by millemeters but by inches! It also had two different trunk moldings on the left and right sides. Really neat original paint time piece: Red with brown interior! http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...8/S7000106.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...8/S7000105.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...8/S7000107.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...8/S7000108.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...8/S7000142.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...8/S7000143.jpg |

Re: Musclepaloozafest2007
Yep, I'll help with the identification of the Jersey cars. The 69 Z is Rons, the COPO is Alberts of course, the red 70 Chevelle conv is Rich Recupero's, the white 67 Chevelle vert belongs to Ken Takacs, and the Grecian Green 68 Chevelle is mine. The whole event was great. Lots of cool cars, and good friends. Never saw a drop of rain till I was backing the trailer into my driveway. Looking forward to next year. Thanks for the pics Steve, and it was good to meet you, and seeing that Hemi....

Re: Musclepaloozafest2007
That yellow Nova sure was a beautiful car. Great to see it in person.
I think we need some kind of secret high-sign or handshake from now on so we can tell who is who. I thinking about using the one from the Little Rascal's "He-Man Woman Hater's Club." How about having next year's Supercar Reunion at the Musclepalooza event? That way I could make it. I think we had about a dozen members there this year. |
Re: Musclepaloozafest2007
Hi Steve,
I loved the photo coverage of that event from you. Thank you! As for your idea of the "secret handshake" or something similar, it's a great idea. Any member of this site who has a car at a show would certainly like to meet another member. Our JLG club had 2" transfer decals made that fit perfectly on a vent window. If the SYC site had something like that available, I'm sure everyone would proudly put one on their cars. Maybe next year I'll have a blue '62 up there to join the Joisey boys. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gifVerne |
Re: Musclepaloozafest2007
Some more random photos I found:
1971 Cuda 340 ragtop (won Second place Best Plymouth) http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...8/S7000109.jpg A couple of 69 440 Six-Barrel Roadrunners. There was a bunch of the here for the FAST racing: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...8/S7000141.jpg The black FAST 440 Six-Barrel roadrunner in action. The white disc on the front wheel is an original advertising disc that the dealers sold. It was a bizarre contraption. It involved a wheel bearing cover with a stud coming off of it that would mount the disc on the stud. So when the wheel turned, the disc stayed stationary and showed the giant roadrunner logo. I guess it was the prehistoric predecessor of those ridiculous "bling" wheels that have the free spinning blades that keep rotating when the car stops. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...8/S7000190.jpg 1970 340 Six-Barrel AAR cuda outrunning a 440 Six-Barrel. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...8/S7000191.jpg A 409/409 outrunning a 69 Hurst Olds. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...8/S7000193.jpg |

If it was in the design of an old dragstrip "win" sticker" I think everybody would put love to put that on their car. |
Re: Musclepaloozafest2007
Hey, I finally got to use these lugnuts that I found in that old closed down speed shop a few months ago: The NOS left hand and right hand lugnuts for the American Racing 200S wheels! They were oh so nice and shiny once I got them out of the package and they fit perfectly. I got to junk the old generic mag wheel nuts that had three washers on each lug because they were too long for the supposedly correct application.
(Note: Mopars built prior to early 1970 used left hand lug nuts on the driver's side of the car. Many a Mopar owner has found out the hard way after breaking off a few wheel studs using their SuperMoparMullet strength in the wrong direction) http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3.../P2250005a.jpg |
Re: Musclepaloozafest2007
Steve,
I hate to turn this into a "wanted" ad, but I'm drooling over those lugnuts. The original M/Ts I have on my black car and the 15" E-Ts that were on the blue '62 all need those short depth 7/16-20 lugs. (all RH of course). PLEASE contact me through a PM or email if you have any more. I hate the looks of the new ones on those old wheels. By the way, you didn't mention which car won Best Dodge................ https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gifVerne PS: That white 409 beating the Olds is a '63, so it might be a 425hp. No 409Hp in '63, although there was a service package available in April of '62 that upgraded everything to 425hp '63 specs. (NHRA approved too). |

And as for the Best Dodge, I guess that would be my car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif Just being shy, I guess... I wish I had spent the extra $20 and run her down the strip. But it seemed that one out of every 5 cars was breaking at the end of the run and delaying it for everyone else. (I didnt want to be one of the other cars sitting in the staging lanes for hours on end, waiting for the cleanup crew) So I guess my first gear burnout and powershift into second coming up to the judges' stand will have to do for the moment. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif It was worth it just seeing the judges' eyeballs get really large as I rapidly approached with the tach around 7,000 rpm. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif |
