Bill Elliott returns to Ford!!!
http://www.nascar.com/2007/news/head...car/index.html
its going to be awesome to see bill back in a ford and a Wood's Brothers ford at that! |
Re: Bill Elliott returns to Ford!!!
Yeah he and Schrader have screwed Jon Woods out of another race. Bill retire and stay retired. You were great but now it's someone else's turn
|
Re: Bill Elliott returns to Ford!!!
it's all about the sponsers money and the car must be in the show. if million dollar Bill didnt have the past-champions provisionals he'd be home on the couch with Jarrett and Waltrip. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/Charley.gif

Re: Bill Elliott returns to Ford!!!
Reminds me of all the Mariner fans here in Seattle who boo A-Rod when he comes up to bat. They boo because he took 252 million to leave Seattle and play for the Rangers and he's now a Yankee. During the Mariners-Yankees game last Sunday I told my daughter that there isn't one person in the stadium who wouldn't have done EXACTLY what A-Rod did yet they still boo him. There isn't a guy on this forum who wouldn't do just exactly what Elliott did: take the cash and race.

Re: Bill Elliott returns to Ford!!!
DE (the man), once said "don't worry about the booing, it's when the fans make no noise at all when you're introduced, that's when you worry" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif

Re: Bill Elliott returns to Ford!!!
bottom line is if this is a nascar rule than you really cant blame bill. plus, i'll guarantee you Bill doesn't use all 6 provisionals like DJ did.

I think your right, MWR just can't get any real speed from those Toyotas. But the Woods Bros. will make the next 6 races for sure and they can market the team and Wild Bill to get them a little more exposure. I would love to see that team run well again, and I don't care who drives. |
Re: Bill Elliott returns to Ford!!!
nascar has peaked in popularity.
the younger generation has absolutely no interest in this crap. why no interest? because all the drivers are robots. now they have to dig up fossils like this guy to keep the older faithful fans from switching the channel to golf, which is about as exciting as a NASCAR race. |
Re: Bill Elliott returns to Ford!!!
andy, in 2001 when dodge and ray evernham brought in a 46 year old Bill Elliott to be the flag bearer for his race team opinions like yours were everywhere. Bill went on to win 4 races (should of been 5) over the next 3 years and pretty much made naysayers eat crow. this "fossil" also won most popular driver over dale jr. so go ahead and let the younger crowd watch golf. i'm 30, a bill fan and will be pulling hard for the "old school" Wood Brothers and Bill Elliott.

Re: Bill Elliott returns to Ford!!!
I only watch it when I have nothing else to do, and even then it's only for the wrecks https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Put a fork in it, the life cylce is on the downside!

[/ QUOTE ] NASCAR (and NHRA, etc.) has gotten so corporate that people are getting turned-off. All the logo placement and the "I gotta' thank Home Depot, Pizza Hut, UPS, Mrs. Butterworth's," crap makes them all sound the same. I watch "Back in the Day" with Dale Jr. and it's fun to see real men--racing cars you can identify--in T-shirts and smoking Winstons and getting dirty. And another thing: Today everything is "awesome." "My car was awesome, my crew was just awesome, and I gotta's thank my awesome wife--she's just so awesome." Thank God for the MUTE button. |

Re: Bill Elliott returns to Ford!!!
Agreed!! If everything was so 'awesome' during their interview, why didn't they win the stupid race. I would like to hear the 'no-spin' interview - oh yea, you have to listen in on the crew's headsets for the truth! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif
I'd like to see the corporate logo's replaced with creative names that elude to a corporation, ie; take the 'Corn Flakes' off of the Kellog car, and name it 'Flaked Out' or something. This is now corp. 'A' racing against corp. 'B' - which becomes a money war, which promotes 'who cares'. |

I think he was leading and the car went kaput in turns 3 and 4. He was yelling the f-word repeatedly as the car coasted toward the entrance to the pits and his transmissions were broadcast live! It was hilarious. "F______K, IT'S OUT OF GAS!!! F_________K!!!" |
Re: Bill Elliott returns to Ford!!!
After attending the 1988 daytona 500 I hadn't missed a race for 14 years. When Earnhardt passed in Feb 01 it was difficult to watch, but New Yorkers had Steve Park. When he got whacked in Sept 01 I could finally see the races for what they were with no one to root for. The personalities are definetly lacking today, NASCAR's cautions of convenience are nonsense and the cookie cutter 1.5 mile tracks are great for my insomnia. Now I can skip the race and the get 5 min highlight reel. http://www.nascar.com/2007/multimedia/races/cup/40/ cars with wings? It's just not the same. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif there is no "stock" in THOSE stock cars |
Re: Bill Elliott returns to Ford!!!
I have to agree with ya on this one marlin.Without the likes of earnhardt and rusty Wallace;the guys that got there the hard knock ways;I don;t care too much to watch /nextel either.I plan on moving to Statesville,NC.In a few years ;and well be closer to attend the SC show and races and the Pure stock muscle car dragrace;with my 68 nova ss 396/350hp car(matching #) and my other 68 nova ss 396/375 nova 4speed,matador red car.
