Yeah, dont look under your car anymore. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

But serioulsy folks, there is also an O-ring or sealing washer that goes under the long bolt I believe. That never gets replaced and always drips.

https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gifOops! I mean, it depends on where the drip is. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif Like Steve said, the gasket around the bold is likely the culprit, but you could also check the "O" ring up inside the block. Maybe there's something between the machined surface and the "O" ring. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: Cannister Filters

I forgot to mention that this is on the Rebuilt Engine that just went back in the Chevelle......Didn't leak before..Noticed it right after start up, not much ....just a couple of drips.......It's not coming from the Oil Pressure port...Bone dry there, but I can see where the drip ran down the Outside of the Cannister???????
Maybe I should take the filter adaptor out of the Block and change the Gasket there, but I think the Cannister Gasket bulges out and seals the outside of the Cannister also?????

Ken,
Is there a check/by pass valve in the adapter?

Double gaskets or a piece of crud are common causes...but I know there is no crud on your cars..so maybe it's the gaskets...good luck https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: Cannister Filters

Double gaskets is a very common error. One gets stuck up inside of the block. Good thinking Wilma! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

Re: Cannister Filters

Have you inspected the cannister adapter after removing it?
It's unusual, but I had a similar scenario, and after basically doing what's already been recomended, found the adapter had a harline crack in it.
I would replace the adapter.

As the old GM mechanics used to say if your BBC is not using a little bit of oil you are not driving it properly. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif
