Everybody has a Baldwin/Motion Corvette these days
...doesn't look like one to me.. If you read down through the whole sales pitch.. by the time you get to the end you'll have a mental picture of a fast talking used car salesman with plad pants and a bad comb-over.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif
Anyone familier with this car? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS...em=220091007183 |
Re: Everybody has a Baldwin/Motion Corvette these days
Ok I can take the comment on the pants but the com-over is a little to far, and for the record I dont have that much hair....... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif

https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif I dont know why I would say it has anything to do with Baldwin Motion https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif (WIDE BODY, isn't that an airplane of some sort?) https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif unless, of course there may be $ome more ca$h in it for me. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif Buyer Beware !!! |
Re: Everybody has a Baldwin/Motion Corvette these days
-------I hope this doesnt sound negative, but what one thing on this 69 Vette would point anyone towards the conjecture that it was ever near Long Island??? I mean come-on!!!! Hundreds if not thousands of 68 up sharks had those Eckler flairs and front spoiler added. Bodyshops all over the country have been making a living for years taking that stuff off. And the reverse scoops??? Huh??? Looking at the bondo smeared all over the side-scoop area, something else may have resided there at one time, but then again its more likely that the bondo is there for something to do with the flairs. No mention of paperwork. Really, so little pertinent info it is actually comical.........Bill S

Re: Everybody has a Baldwin/Motion Corvette these days
It's also interesting that the first time the car was listed there was no mention of Motion. It is also interesting that the black strips on the roof and tail were missing in the first auction and now they are on the car in the second auction.

First Auction [/ QUOTE ] Oh, and how come the black stripe "remnants" are on top of the grey primer (which is on top of the orange paint), and not underneath it? Look at the fresh black overspray on the tail panel below the spoiler lip (the factory spoiler lip, not the wing that was taken off of a mid-70's station wagon) https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif |

------Yup,,,No radio plate, yet antenna in exactly the right place,,,,HMMMM!!! I see what you mean about the new appearance of stripes.........BUSTED!!!........Bill S

Re: Everybody has a Baldwin/Motion Corvette these days
F this crap... Just a bunch of low-life scumbags out there trying to rip each other off. What it says about the hobby should make us all ashamed.
The worst part about it is that there probably is someone out there dumb enough to think about getting involved with this car. That car is a POS, and has been run hard and put away wet every time it was driven. To quote Mr. T-- "I pity the fool!" |

I see what you mean about the new appearance of stripes.........BUSTED!!!........Bill S [/ QUOTE ] My '68 Coupe was a radio delete car, yet it had the antenna AND the co-ax up through the console. I put a correct radio in the car but the AM stations were garbage because the car didn't have the ignition shielding. I still have the block-off plate and the tank sheet on that car. |
Re: Everybody has a Baldwin/Motion Corvette these
Is that an a/c compressor bolted to the engine??

Re: Everybody has a Baldwin/Motion Corvette these days
When I asked the seller, "do you have any documentation or history on this car? why do you think it may be a BaldwinMotion Vette?" [ QUOTE ] http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q...r_salesman.jpg he replied; "It is a Cal blue plate car so you can go back to the first owner. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif It has a complete Baldwin motion body https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif but I removed the reverse gills and installed GM gills it can be changed back the motion gills go with this Vette. It is not a 435 hp engine? The rear wing is not a motion part (Vista Cruiser, maybe?) and it is not installed at this time but goes with. The hood is a GM L88 hood not a motion L88 hood needless to say it is a very nice example of a Baldwin motion https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif Vette. Call me Wednesday and I will give you the vin and tag# So you can check it out Thanks. John" dude, pass the crack pipe! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif |

definetly need to get some of those waders for this https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif |
Re: Everybody has a Baldwin/Motion Corvette these days
Were the side vents actually seperate pieces as pictured in the ad or were the original vents just cut out and reversed?
|
Re: Everybody has a Baldwin/Motion Corvette these days
I was under the impression the stock vents were reversed. So maybe this guy has a left handed screwdriver too? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif
|
Re: Everybody has a Baldwin/Motion Corvette these days
I'm pretty sure the stock vents were reversed too.. and I believe were swapped left to right. If I remember....
|
Re: Everybody has a Baldwin/Motion Corvette these days
-----You are correct, Ed. Switched side to side.....Bill S
|
Re: Everybody has a Baldwin/Motion Corvette these days
Pretty creative piece of work since there's a slight body curve in that area and the back vents weren't open.
|
Re: Everybody has a Baldwin/Motion Corvette these days
What is the purpose of reversed vents? Seems stupid to me, and a predecessor to all the tacked-on rice bullsh1t that is currently out there.

Re: Everybody has a Baldwin/Motion Corvette these days
I better get my bid in quick before I lose out on such a great deal! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif
