Found 67 Yenko camaro

A freind that I work with has a buddy that has a 67 yenko camaro my freind has told me about the car for years and today I got to take a look at it.The story goes the guy that owns it now bought from a older guy from wv 10 years ago the car had been totaled in the early 70`s and rebuilt the car is on the yenko vin list as not being found. The original color was marina blue/blue int but now is red/black interior and black top and someone added power windows tha owner knows what he has and no it is not for sale.the door tag has not been removed.the little yenko tag reads ys-7041 and on the sides it reads yenko super camaro and on the bottom of the tag it reads cannonsburg pa.

Re: Found 67 Yenko camaro

According to Yenko's records, car #41 is associated with vin #241579, is a 4speed 450HP car, and was sold from Bermine Chevrolet along with #43 which was an a/t. (The records are a bit blurry, so the trans types could be vice-versa for these two cars).

It is quite unusual for a '67 car to have a door jam tag like that, they are usually seen on the the '68 cars.

Re: Found 67 Yenko camaro

The reason I put the 241579 # is Marlin is correct that would be car 41. Also the car I had was 241597 which was not on the 67 list but the 68 list. I talked to Warren about 241579. That's the # he at first thought was mine. I have never seen a tag on a 67 Yenko. If it's not 741 then why is there a tag with that # on it??

Re: Found 67 Yenko camaro

Bermine chev. is/was in the St. Louis area I think?

I'm not up on my stingers, but I think they might have used the tag in '67. Is it possible that this tag, if real, was originally used on a stinger? It's possible that these tags were used on some of the '67 Camaros, but I've never seen or heard of one

Re: Found 67 Yenko camaro

M,the tag say's Yenko Super Camaro...I like to keep an open mind on cars like this...but too many flags are up right now. What rear is in the car? Traction arm? Cowl tag? Where is the tag in the door jam? The rivots look wrong to me as well as the layout..I have found a bogus 68 tag before.....I think he needs to dig a bit deeper here....

Re: Found 67 Yenko camaro

Ok, I have a few questions because this is getting interesting.

1. Why does the tag say YS-7041 when the list shows the numbering using three places, for example 741? The 1968 Yenko is numbered just the list, I.E. 8025 is YS-8025.

2. Could you spell Canonsburg (correct spelling) again as you see it on the tag or get a better picture? In your opening post you said it was stamped "cannonsburg pa" with 2 n's. Could be a mispell on your part but want to make sure.

As mentioned, flags are up on this. Never heard of a door tag on a 67 Yenko. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif

Re: Found 67 Yenko camaro

I just came in for a quick break working on 67 Yenko Camaro 706. There is NO tag on this car, nor was there any. But I did find a number of real cool things breaking this one down. Like the original spring tags on the rear, the original rear shocks, crayon "K" on the rear seat bulkhead, and a ton of the original Royal Plum paint. The original blowproof, and headers, hood pins, that are WAY different than the ones you get today, and the original traction bars. The way the tach was mounted on this ride was different than others I have seen as well....BKH https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: Found 67 Yenko camaro

I can't say why the door jam tag has YS-7041, but I can tell you why the list has the syntax as '741'.

The '67 list that we have on this site basically came from two sources, a list of cars sold by a dealer other than Yenko whereby Don kept track of commission payments due, and a list that was attached to a letter from Don to the NHRA.

The commission list is handwritten, and shows the stock numbers as '741', the list attached to the letter to the NHRA is typed but does not show stock numbers. So, my point here is that we've seen Yenko list stocknumbers both ways, the formal version 'YS-X0XX' and the shorthand version 'XXX'. However, in my experience the formal version is generally on typed documents, and the shorthand version is generally on handwritten documents. Therefore, I would not expect to see the shorthand version on a door jam tag.
