COPO or Supercar Convertible
I am new here, but I am an avid 69 camaro convertible collector. I have searched for some time trying to find out if the supercar dealers ever did a convertible for 69. I apparently don't know where to look, or it didn't happen? If someone can point me in the right direction, where I could find info on this topic if available I would be grateful.
Thankyou In Advance Robert H. |
Re: COPO or Supercar Convertible
Factory L89 was the most hp you could get. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif I think they have found 3 or 5 of L89 convertibles.

Re: COPO or Supercar Convertible
I know the factory was 375hp. But what about Yenko, Nickey, Baldwin etc? Is there any convertible info from them? I would think they would have done a few convertibles maybe more..?

Re: COPO or Supercar Convertible
None of the super car builders did any convertibles that I have heard about. The lack of the roof for stiffness combined with the 100 lbs of cocktail shakers probably turned the off https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif

Re: COPO or Supercar Convertible
There was suppose to be a Motion 69 Camaro Convertible in AZ. I never heard if the car was real or not but the guy was claiming it was last year.

Re: COPO or Supercar Convertible
Thats the car I was thinking of.. I know it was forsale in AZ for like 60k or something close to that and was suppose to go to an auction last year too but it dropped off the face of the earth it seems.
Does anyone know anything about it? Stefano?? |
Re: COPO or Supercar Convertible

the "K" is pointing in the wrong direction

Re: COPO or Supercar Convertible
Local friend is pursuing the car but as of yet no definitive proof that it is real. He is a real pit-bull when it comes to tracking down docs and original owners (and their grandmothers). Price has gone up substantially. Can't remember exact amount, but if it is real it wasn't enuff and if it isn't real it was way too much.

Re: COPO or Supercar Convertible
-------So,,,Looking at Sams pictures are we to guess that Nickey built the one and only "Supercar" convertible out of a small block??? On the face of it that deosnt make much sense.........Bill S

Re: COPO or Supercar Convertible
This car was at our Shop/Nickey Chicago, for inspection last year. It is a nice driver quality car. It appears to be an Original small block SS.
There is a letter from a previous owner saying that he knows it is a Nickey. A tire receipt with what was to be the original owners info and a Nickey cataloge with the same individuals name on it. Don Swiatek inspected the car and there was no proof, evidence what so ever that the car had been sold out of Nickey or Converted by Nickey. This car is not included in the Nickey Registry at this time. Bill call me when you have a chance. 630-561-1215 |
Re: COPO or Supercar Convertible
You guys are good. This the car I was fishing about. The current owner hasn't been able to convince me its real. I am just dumb enough to believe someone would be able to say "sure its a real Nickey and here is how I can prove it"
I guess he is never gonna be able to prove it either..?? Thanks Again Robert H. |

Re: COPO or Supercar Convertible
Robert...Did the seller disclose to you that the car was inspected at Nickey last year and that they would not include it in the Nickey registry ?
|
Re: COPO or Supercar Convertible
If you want one just buy an original and chop the roof off, then you'll have the only real one around.(ooooooo im going to hear about this one).
Is'nt there some supercar vette roadsters around? |
Re: COPO or Supercar Convertible
would the Pete Estes built 68 Z28 convertible be considered a Supercar or just a 1 of 1?
|
Re: COPO or Supercar Convertible
Charley...I think, if I remember correctly, the way the conversation went was something to the effect "that someone at Nickey got a look at it" he did say his name (a grandson maybe) but I don't recall what it was. But the fact it was not included in the registry after an inspection was not brought up, that I recall. So back to my original question; Can this car be proven or not?
|
Re: COPO or Supercar Convertible
It doesn't sounds like it can at the moment or the car would already be sold. I think it is a case that you would have to research owner history( a short list it sounds like)to get pictures, affidafits, etc.
