COPO VALUE?

this is the best place to ask! my buddy owns a original copo camaro. he's currently racing it in F stock class, wants to sell. i posted it last year. whats it worth? NO documentation.
orig. motor & trans gone. welded bracket on rear to cover #'s. has orig. paint, 4 speed pedals, but auto now.would the vin tell you if it was a COPO? or anything else for that matter. any help would be great! thanks https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: COPO VALUE?

If you don't have documentation, then it's possible to search some old lists by vin #, or there might be a clue on the trim tag. Basically, the response is the same as the two other times you asked - we need more info to help you!!

Re: COPO VALUE?

Gotta be worth $500,000.00 since the last time I talked to him.

vettem 02-07-2007 01:12 AM

Re: COPO VALUE?

alot of people do know the car. but someone that doesn't know the car. would need proof. hes asking alot of money for the car. he races in N.Y.& N.J. what would authenticate it? i'll post the vin# as soon as i get it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

Re: COPO VALUE?

$500k? Oh well, we can try to help, but if that's the price range - then someone needs a reality check.

Re: COPO VALUE?

he wants 75K! i told him hes NUTS! thats why i"m asking you guys

Re: COPO VALUE?

Start with the VIN and trim tag information to help determine where it falls if it's in any known COPO grouping.

Re: COPO VALUE?

Marlin,
I was just being facetious. The price was $75k last year and kept going up, every time I talked to the owner. It sounds like a cool old race car.

Re: COPO VALUE?

It is a cool old race car. I bet still NHRA certified. The owner is a very nice guy. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

Re: COPO VALUE?

The date, VIN and NOR number land right in the middle of a group of COPOS(mostly Yenkos). Is there any X code on the trim tag, X11 or X44?

Re: COPO VALUE?

Chris, I am trying to figure out what you are trying to get here. Do you want to know if it is a real COPO or how much it is worth or how much you should spend on it? Talking about a second under the F/SA index. What should that mean to us? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Give us more to go on and maybe post some pictures for these guys to help you. Do you want to keep it a drag car or restore it to original? Be a litte more clear. I am getting old and can't think as fast anymore.

Re: COPO VALUE?

THIS CAR IS KNOWN IN MY AREA. A FEW GUYS AROUND ME INCLUDING MYSELF HAVE EXPRESSED INTEREST IN THE CAR. EVERYTIME THERE IS INTEREST EITHER THE PRICE GOES UP OR THE CAR IS NOT FOR SALE. I DONT KNOW THE OWNER OF THE CAR PERSONALLY BUT KNOW HIS COUSIN. I'VE TOLD HIM NUMEROUS TIMES I WOULD BE INTERESTED BUT NOTHING EVER MATERIALIZES. I'VE SEEN THE CAR AND ITS A REAL CAR AND A GOOD CAR WITH DRIVETRAIN MISSING AND REAR NOT LEGIBLE DUE TO TRACTION BAR BRACKET. HAVE FUN GUYS.... Re: COPO VALUE?

car belongs to my friend pat. he wants to sell it. he thinks the car is worth 75k or more. i told him to get real!
NO documentation its hard to prove. he knows and alot of other people know its a real COPO. but someone who wants to spend that kind of money is going to want to know its real!
as far as a second under index, i was refering to Robs comment! mopars are easier to tell with vin tag, fender tag.
rad shroud stamp, and trunk pan rail stamp. i was hoping something in the vin would help. thanks https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

Have someone look at it for you then. What do YOU think it is worth? And......what do you want to do with it? Sam (the granny shifter) https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

Re: COPO VALUE?

somebody should buy the car, take out the motor and trans and racing components, put it in to a 6 cyl car sell it as a second under the index stocker, they are going for big money right now you could ask around 35,000, then you could recover some of your money, i was just looking at a second under big block car that the owner was asking 45,000 for. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif
