1967 Z-28 Project Car
1967 Z-28 Project car. Factory Tuxedo Black, black deluxe interior, tach/gauges/console, fold-down seat, rear speaker, am radio, rear defogger, tinted-glass, 4.56 posi, style trim group (bright exterior trim). Virtually rust free car with NOS quarters and mint original floors. Owner history back to 1976 and you can speak with virtually every owner or their family (one fellow passed away). Pics and details can be found here...
https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/show...rue#Post216458 Motor and tranny are casting number and date code correct replacements that are professionally rebuilt with zero miles. In fact, they are still out getting rebuilt and I will have receipts for $7,500 for them. Rear axle is the original 4.56 posi with square traction bar. I have purchased another project Z that has the RS package which I prefer, so I am asking $69,500 for the car for a quick sale rather than putting it away until the RS Z is done. I'd be happy to discuss details via telephone with anyone who is serious https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif Thanks |

Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
Mark, I'd really like to come up and see your Z's especially the RS with the current owner of my '68 Z/28 I sold in '74 for $3,000.
Mark |
Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
Not a problem COPO. The RS will be here in about 6 weeks, which coincides with a break in the weather hopefully!

Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
I'll let you know when we decide to drive up this summer in my 70 Z28 and his 68 Z/28. Not sure about my old 68 though since it gets 8 mpg and coming from East of Toronto, he may chicken out with his car.

Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
There are lots of great cruise nights out this way...let me know when you are ready and maybe we can hit one of them!

Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
Thanks Rich https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif I thought I would throw it up on ebay for a week and see what interest there is. I know the market is soft right now, so if it doesn't sell, I'll just put it into hibernation for a few years while while I do the other Z https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif As I said in the ebay ad, I will conisder a trade deal for a few specific cars and I might also consider selling the car without the motor or tranny as I wouldn't mind keeping them for a nice family cruiser https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif
|
Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
Mark, what color and options does your new Z have?
|
Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
I really don't want to say too much about it until it's in the garage...but it's white https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif
|
Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
White, that's a new color for you isn't it? Keep us posted and good luck with the sale of the black car.
|
Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
Yes,
And I bid on it too, just in case you were sleeping when it ended and the reserve was low.......... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif Good Luck! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif Rich |
Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
Yes Dave...white is a first, as is the black car. Red (3), blue, green and yellow (2) so far...White and black are my favorite Z colors and it would be good to have one of each https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif I've been getting cold feet all day, but have promised myself to let the auction run its full course. If it doesn't sell I won't be heart broken https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif
Rich, I saw your bids https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif but you need to keep bidding https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
While at the vintage races at Watkins Glen last year I talked to a gentleman who was restoring a Mountain Green '67 RS Z. I couldn't help but wonder if it was one of your old cars. He was there racing a '67 Z, and had previously owned a Black '67 RS Z. Nice guy who allowed us to park the '67 pace car my buddy brought next to his race car and take some photos.
|
Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
Dave, that would be Ron Tribble. His black Z was stunning and I'm sure the green car will be too. My old green car is down in Florida being restored by another fellow who owns a mechanic's shop. Ron's a very nice guy.

Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
Yes you're right it was Ron. He has a few really cool Camaros. Oh, and for what it's worth I'll take mine in Royal Plum.
|
Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
I met Ron years ago, he used to be from the Portland OR area I think? I remember he had a stunning black 67 Z, and I believe he picked up a 69 Pacer BB 350 hp with air and a bunch of options. Wasn't his Z an RS? Anyways it was probably fifteen years ago or more..

Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
Same car Sam and it was an RS. I remember when he sold it years ago for a what many thought was crazy money...Now project cars are selling for more!

Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
1970 ls6 chevelle interested in trading im picking it up this next weekend let me know if you dont sell
|
Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
Thanks Joey, PM me some details and we can talk about a trade deal. So far, no one seems too serious about the car...just a lot of lookers. There's 102 people watching the auction at this point. I would also be interested in a nice cruise night car as a partial trade.

Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
Wow...2 hours to go and 6,000 hits with 148 watching the auction...I should have sold tickets! Looks like the black beast will be staying here and ol' whitey will be hitting the pavement https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
Kinda like nascar you only need to watch the last three minutes.

Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
Update...I had 3 people contact me about the car today making offers below my "buy it now" price. One is a friend of a friend (and a site member), so I have promised to hold the car until Monday for him so he can see if he can free up the cash. I've been involved in the purchase and sale of at least 20 '67 Z's over the past 5 years and can tell you that this is a smokin' deal compared to recent sales (during the past 2 years). Thanks to all who sent PM's and emails last night as we watched the auction...the banter was a lot of fun https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
Mark,
I do belive that it is a great deal. Surprised that it did not go higher? Wish I had the room, too many projects now..... Good Luck, I am sure that it will sell....... Rich |
Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
Thanks Rich. Yes, I am surprised too...but things have been softening for a while now and I guess it had to affect the '67 Z's also...

Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
MY LAST GTO I SOLD HAD OVER 9800 HITS AND 347 PEOPLE WATCHING IT AND NOBODY CAME IN AT THE END. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/shocked.gif
|
Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
Mark do you think what I paid to get my 67Z back was a good price? I really would have gone more being I know what I put into the car back in 1984 (all GM body parts) and that was a big factor why I wanted it back and also a good friend helped me restore it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif
|
Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
To be honest Ron, it would be tough to put a price on the attachment you have to your car from the past, so I can't make that call. All I know is that 2 rusty roaches without original or correct motors or trannys and low options sold for upper $50's during the past year. Deduct the $7,500 that I put into my motor and tranny for the black car and I'm barely getting mid $50's for a non rusty car with NOS quarters, great options and colors! So, either the market has softened substantially or I just have crappy timing https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif At this point I am just breaking even on the car and if it doesn't sell I'm just going to finish it the way I want it and enjoy it. I can finsish the car for another $30K - $35K no problem.
|
Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
Or someone really overpaid for the rusty roaches....
|
Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
What about the Blue one which sold at Mecum last fall. That was a good deal for the car represented,IMO?
|
Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
I agree Stefano if you believed the engine stamping to be original and didn't mind that this original "survivor" car had been rattle canned underhood and had the carpet removed and redyed the wrong color https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif When I was negotiating on that car 4 or 5 years ago for $34K, the engine in the car was not original but was supposed to be with the car...I asked for pics of the pad and never got them. I still have the video the owner made for me at the time...neat low option car with great vintage drag racing pics. Personally, I thought that car would have brought more than the $85K or so that it did, but two friends that were there said it actually was rougher looking in person than it was in the pics and video - lots of dents and scratches all over the car. Regardless, it was original paint and that is very cool to me https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif
|
Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
No, I personally didn't mind any of that for the price. I just hadn't stepped up when the dust had settled.
|
Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
Mark im looking forward to seeing the white car your getting.is it all numbers matching?
|
Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
Hi Ron, it has the original block but not tranny or rear end - it was a drag car in the early days (but not chopped up). However, I paid more for this car than the black car, so I am having second thoughts about completing the deal. There is another interested party and the seller knows that I am trying to sell the black car, so he has no problem letting me out of the deal if I want. I still haven't heard from the buyer that I was holding the black car for today, so if anyone else is interested I will be relisting it on the site tonight with a revised price if I don't hear from him by 10 PM. How about a nice black Z Ron? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif
|
Re: 1967 Z-28 Project Car
Well, I've decided that the white car is not coming home and I am going to keep the black car unless someone comes up with $62,000 before the weekend. The person that I was holding it for could not come up with the money today as he is waiting on a land deal to finalize and doesn't want to commit until it is sold.
Ron, hold onto that 3910 carb until the weekend please and maybe we can put a deal together on it https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif The motor shop called today and told me that my motor was being painted and is ready to ship this week. Crash is working on my tranny, so my drivetrain should be ready to go any time now https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
