I have seen information re the accelerator brackets for the
70 chevelle recently that in my opinion is not correct. So in an effort to clear up the matter here are a few pics of the real ones.LS6 brackerts.

Where is this current incorrect information that you are referring to?

P.J.,

I found your post about the differences very interesting! I just went out and checked the accelerator/throttle cable brackets on my 2 1971 LS-6 Corvettes, they use the example that you posted as a L78 bracket.

Waren
thanks for your information,Interesting!
I found 6 original l78 brackets on 70 chevelles with build dates from sept to Nov 69 all had L78 brackets.
I also found about 11 brackets on ls6 Cars to be the same
ones.I never found one L78 bracket on a car built after
Dec 1 1969. I also found that the LS6 bracket on 70 Nova
built april 1970. Which would be consistant.
It does sugest that the L78 Bracket could of been the first design and was later modified because I beleive they were having trouble with the die that stamped them out and went to a simpler die design. One of those brackets shows signs of many die repairs. However there maybe cars built after
Dec 1/69 that were fitted with the L78 brackets???
Everytime I see a 70 LS6 car or a L78 car I ask the owner to check the bracket. YOurs is the first one I have run across so far with the L78 Bracket.

Guys!

I don't want to hi-jack this topic, but I do have a related
question. Can anyone post an image or images of the correct
original throttle cable for a 1970 L/78 Nova? Are these
cables available as NOS, or even repop'd?

Also, and in line with this discussion, what is the correct
Holley bracket for the cable on the '70 L/78 Nova?

If your car was built after Dec/1969 then it would probably
have use what I call the ls6 bracket in the pics.
I found an april 1970 l78 Nova and it had this bracket on
the intake.

Re: LS6 and L78 caccelerator brackets

P.J.,

Ask Steve (aka 71-LS6) on this forum about his bracket, he has the earliest known '71 LS-6 Corvette built.

My cars are March 18, and April 20 1971 built.

Re: LS6 and L78 caccelerator brackets

I don't understand all the debate over the 619.It's the same part. It's a time period issue as to which version a car got.Depending on what supplier GM was purchasing from at the time. What we need to clarify this is for someone to date range each version.Am I wrong?

Re: LS6 and L78 caccelerator brackets

Yes Warren
That information is very interesting.
It would be nice to hear from the corvette owners to see
what brackets are on the cars and what build date and plant they were built. I was surprized to hear that the 71 Vette had a L78 bracket to say the least. It must also be considered If the car was restored and the bracket was purchased and then put back on the car?? Most of the cars I
was able to find were originals. The earliest bracket I found was a Sept/69 dated Elcamino L78.I also never found a
L78 bracket on a original ls6 car,so far.I also must admit I never considered looking for Corvette brackets until now.

Re: LS6 and L78 caccelerator brackets

Peter,

I just looked at your pictures again with intense scrutiny. I then went out and looked at both cars brackets. I was wrong when I said my brackets are just like the L78 style, they are slightly different than both of your pictured examples. Both my brackets are exactly the same, neither have the part # stamped in them. As a matter of fact they have some horizontal lines as the only type of mark on them.

I will try to take some pictures and see if I can get them onto the computer and maybe they can be sent to an email. I don't know, but I'll try tomorrow.
