Barrett Jackson.....
Who's watching? What do you think of the prices and cars so far? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: Barrett Jackson.....
saw a 71 boss go for 51K, thought it was a good buy!
|
Re: Barrett Jackson.....
Lots of fakes too. 69 Chevelle non SS touted as an SS 396. 69 Camaro "matching numbers" 350/300 "RS" for 52k, but it can't be matching numbers if it's a 350/300 since that's an SS.
More fakes to come? Ed |
Re: Barrett Jackson.....
Yenko clone just went for around $85K. Beautiful car and looked like it was done right.
|
Re: Barrett Jackson.....
Last night I saw the hugger Orange COPO recreation get about $64,0000
|
Re: Barrett Jackson.....
Hey Mark - in - Naples.
Keith - in- Fort Myers here watching BJ. Any idea when the 69 Yenko Chevelle is going across the block? |
Re: Barrett Jackson.....
Hey Keith, sorry, was in the other room watching it off and on but didn't see the Yenko yet.
Where abouts in FM? I'm actually in Collier, but in Bonita Shores. |
Re: Barrett Jackson.....

Re: Barrett Jackson.....
Ah yes, I am familiar. I used to live off Summerlin and Gladiolus. Do you have a shop up there?
|
Re: Barrett Jackson.....
No I had a transmission shop when I lived in South NJ. Thank god I got out of that business. I got burned out on rebuilding transmissions.
We are close to I-75 and Daniels. How about you? |
Re: Barrett Jackson.....
For the GMMG fans, both of us. Did you notice the white and very strange ZL1 phase I that went for $80K?

B-J had a lot of incorrect information on it. As those of us know, it was not a 427 and it was not the only white ZL1 produced. The original owner was a friend of mine. He sold it and it was the second owner selling it at B-J. |

This is Scott Pierce from NJ, Highway Stars, How are you? Scott [/ QUOTE ] Wow Scott, I remember your name and am having trouble picturing you. Yes I was in the Highway Stars, so it is me. Did I sell you my Mustang 5.0 about 1993? I have been living in FL for 5 years. I am heading out of town and will check to see if you respond on Sunday. |
Re: Barrett Jackson.....
Keith,
You got it, blue Mustang, you were living in Marlton Scott |
Re: Barrett Jackson.....
Does anyone know if the lot 1019 69 RS Z/28 (lemans blue) actually had the crossram? The auction details says it does but the photos show the single 4bbl sertp. Thanks

Re: Barrett Jackson.....
Boy, weren't the announcers just HATIN' that white & blue '67 Shelby GT500? Granted, it had a 427 & a 5-speed, but I figure the original engine was long gone anyway and that 427 would run & hide from s 428, and the 5-speed makes it drivable...and it's still a real Shelby at the end of the day... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: Barrett Jackson.....
I would have jumped all over that Shelby and well as the red LS6 70 Chevelle A4. I was trying to figure out how to get to the phone and get registered, qualified and all that crap, in just 30 seconds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I ever buy a Ford, BTW, it will have a 427 or a 429 hemi in it!
Anybody see if that GT-40 went yesterday and for how much? |
Re: Barrett Jackson.....
Is it me or are there some deals going out there .Watched it Friday night and
Saw some cars that I would think would have sold for much more that they did. If you watch Greg Jackson seemed a little worried his not accepting reserve cars must be screwing some sellers. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gifAnd I know what you are going to say You know this before you try to sell it But why does Greg Jackson insist of not letting some one put a reserve on a car My guess is with a reserve car he can not make as much money on the commission Saw two 59 De Sotos go for big bucks https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/shocked.gif One more thing What Is the story behind the white 59 Cadillac they called it The murder car https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif |
Re: Barrett Jackson.....
What's the scoop?
I saw two LS-6 Chevelles go across the block last night and neither one hit 100K. Is it my imagination, or are the prices falling. Some of the Mustangs were bringing strong money though. |
Re: Barrett Jackson.....
His name is Craig Jackson and the problem with reserve auctions was many paople thought their cars were worth more than they really were. We all think our cars our the best right ? So you get a bunch of cars that don't sell. Bidders walk away pissed because they came to buy a certain car only to find out it was never for sale at a realistic price. There is no easy answer. Tonight will be the big night to watch. There were many great deals and many cars also went for more than what I thought they were worth. People sitting at home and seeing the great deals might decide they need to come next year with money to buy a cool car. Will next years prices jump because of all the people that saw this years deals and showed up ? There has never been any car sale event of this size that is watched so closely by so many. Each year this will be a facinating watch so see what happens and what effect it has on the market. Great event and very well run especially for the size of it.
|
Re: Barrett Jackson.....
Poor Craig did freak out a few times. I think bidders should keep an eye on him because he might be a tip-off to a good buy. Might. But that's the chance you take at BJ with no reserve. I saw one car sell for less than the engine alone was worth. I seem to remember a big block red vette near the end that was a good buy too.
|
Re: Barrett Jackson.....
Lots of armchair quarterbacks out there. It is easy to say this car or that car went too cheap, but IMO, the deciding factor is, if you were at the auction, would you have bid on the car. If not, then it was not a bargain. It is easy to spend some elses $$$. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Re: Barrett Jackson.....
I really do not think that it because of the market prices are falling
There was some cars that sold for less than some one had in it Charlie I understand were you are coming from Just look at all the clones There are more Z –28s out there than Gm Built. Every one thinks there car is a million dollar baby There also was another problem I can not remember if it was last year or the year before Now let me see if I can get the facts right”’ Me and my head injury some times gets things mixed up. There was a red 67 big block 435 hp vette that sold at B/J for 175,000 It was told at the time of sell that it was NCRS certified , Top Flite certified, The Greg Jackson boys went over it and certified it as numbers matching And the real deal A few week later the fellow who purchased the car goes to put the title in his name and to get plates for it .It was then discovered that there was another vette on the road with the same vin . The fellow who purchased the car was so sure he had the real deal went to the authorities The other vette was traced some were in Texas. When the authorities went to check this car out it was a yellow . the woman who owned it showed the authorities the original order the bill of sell and all the paper work show all work done on the car form day one She was the original owner all the hinting vins matched So some one went to a lot of work build this red vette but no one ever checked the vin they were using was used I another vette Even B/J did not catch Form there I never hear any more about this car but I would think it was easy to trace back to see who built this mess Every one was checking for numbers matching and never checked the vin To night will tell how things are going There are still a lot of nice cars to be had And what is the story of the 59 Cadillac murder car |
Re: Barrett Jackson.....
From what Ive seen there has been a couple of deals but nothing is a give away by any means. Prices stayed strong right until the very end last night..I stayed around to see if I could get a good buy on a custom bike the went second to last.. It didnt happen it brought huge money.. cars with eye candy appeal are strong. Pro Touring Camaro brought around 170k or 180k that was strong.. I personally thought the car was nothing to look at but at least 2 other guys thought it was the bomb! LS6 Chevelles?? Most were automatic's and I think all but 1 was numbers matching.. so 80k to 90k seemd like good money to me considering the car, Im sure a 4 speed car with papers with do 125k to 150k just watch tonight. I do think the buyers are alittle more informed this year not so many crazy people with money to burn or drinking to much...but that could all change today!!
|
Re: Barrett Jackson.....
I know that Quick Bowtie was there and if he would have thought that the ls6 chevelles were underpriced,he would have bought them so i agree with charley. Also you do not see these cars in person so you do not know what condition they are really in.I never saw under the hood of the silver ls6 and the red ls6 was very incorrect.

Re: Barrett Jackson.....
I agree with Chad totally. If you haven't seen the car, the docs, etc., AND, the weather, you are not in a position to comment on what car is a deal, or, that the market is falling. IMO, the prices were very strong in general for the cars that were auctioned.
|
Re: Barrett Jackson.....
Prices seemed good up until late Friday night, thats about when most people start heading over to Russo Steele auction which is mostly a muscle car auction. The bidders for muscle cars end up over there. In matter of fact the market is actually pretty strong when you see what the older land yahts were bringing. How about that model A cabrolet for over 150k thats unbelievable.

Everyone is quick to call a "low" sale the new market price, not taking into consideration the car was a rebody, had no docs, had a horrible resto,or that it was an automatic[which could really affect certain cars] or that it was gobi beige!! If a red on red Ls6 4 speed w docs that is a perfect resto brings 80K, then we can start looking at things a little differently. You will find those ls6 cars actually brought good money for the condition etc . Yet when a car brings crazy money, people do not consider it the market price because they say some "stupid drunk" had more money than brains. As is stated above,if you arent there looking over every single car for auction you cant sit at home watching TV and decide which prices are going to make up the new market or not. Obviously the people that dont have cars or dont have the money to buy them are going to run with the lowball prices and try to tell everyone the sky is falling. |
Re: Barrett Jackson.....
The trend seems to be towards the Pro-touring cars, that Camaro and Chevelle 'vert with the wagon wheels both brought huge dollars.'71 Z/28 Sport Coupe (matching #'s/POP/48K miles) brought a strong $60K so there is hope for the early 2nd gen cars.Typical auction prices, some good buys, most not.Early cars were geared towards the entry-level buyer, momentum started slowly.Cars sell for what they do because the buyers have inspected them, they are there,we are not...for the most part. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gifDollars are starting to pick up,tonight should be interesting...

Re: Barrett Jackson.....
Did you see Craig Jackson's reaction at the $40,000 sale of the Von Dutch bus? He and his auctioneers were all expecting another bus bidding war like last year but I think this one really opened his eyes. He saw that six figure commission just fizzle away... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

What would do you do with a car like that drive it or let it sit. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif I guess if you did not know What happen in the car it would not matter There is still one more car that is newer and has less miles 4 months to go till they un –burry a new 1957 Plymouth that is buried in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 1957 http://www.buriedcar.com/index.cfm?pageID=10 For me I would never sell a car with no reserve. I know last night some sellers Ended up with less than they put in |

[/ QUOTE ] Chuck, I believe the announcers stated that the silver LS-6 had "papers". That's why I was surprised at the final price. I do agree that we can't see the condition of these cars. But help me here if you can. I was of the opinion that the cars that came across the block @ BJ were predominantly high level restorations ( if non-survivor class ). So, what explains the two LS-6 car prices? Bad resto's, bad or missing paper work? Again, if BJ is to represent the best of the best, how did 2nd class cars get in the auction? Personally, I'd really like to hear from some of the members here that attended this auction and can attest to the actual condition of the two particular cars. They looked like very reasonable buys for the money. I guess what I was trying to get across with my earlier post is are we possibly seeing a saturation level with Chevy BB cars? Maybe it's time for the Mustangs, Cutlass', GS1's. etc.. Just a thought.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif Steve |
Re: Barrett Jackson.....
What did everyone think of the 68 SS Chevelle vert 396/375 with aluminum heads selling for $85k. It was red on black. I know 68's are not that fully appreciated, but I thought with L78 Nova's commanding that money this one would do better. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif
