Re: yenko duece looking for dollars.
------This is not intended to be negative as the car appears very nice and seems to have great paper, but is that the style shifter that would have come in a Duece??? I really would like to expand my knowledge of these cars........Bill S

Re: yenko duece looking for dollars.
I believe that car is owned by Mr. John Ohler. It was at SCR9. It was in the center of a nova poster with other nice novas from different years back when Reggie owned it.

Re: yenko duece looking for dollars.
Yes Bill,
That is the correct 4177 shifter for the car. I am far from being an expert but the Nova Deuce web site has been a great source of information for me! How did you make out on the Z/28 from Texas? Richard. |
Re: yenko duece looking for dollars.
Hi, Richard,,, Thanks for the comeback!!! I bought a rotisserie and am having a local guy do just the paint after blasting. I just didnt have enough in the budget for a painter that I wont have to watch like a hawk. He can do the work but I will have to be all over him to keep him on track. Why is it that so many talented paint and body guys minds seem to wander???......Bill S

Re: yenko duece looking for dollars.
I never met a top flight bodyman/painter that wasnt an addict or alcoholic. Most of the old timers did it for years without proper ventilation equipment. It would be like sniffing glue for 10-20 years. The mind tends to wander off after block sanding the same car 10 times. Cant smell from the bondo dust and fumes, cant hear from the air hammer, cant see from welding without a shield, and cant think straight from the paint fumes and chemicals absorbing into the skin. Most of the best from the fifties died of lead poisoning. I won an award from Dupont but Ill be dammed if I can remember where I put it...... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif

The original one was made from round stock (same shifter stick as a bench seat GTO) and the boot was the same as a 69 Camaro, with a non plated ring. The one in this car looks to be an aftermarket Hurst rectangular stick and an aftermarket Hurst shifter boot. |
Re: yenko duece looking for dollars.
For $295,000 I would tend to image the Yenko should be perfect.
Its got no manifolds or smog, very few pictures, no undercar shots or pictures of paperwork... The car won't sell on ebay but I would think his representation should be perfect since he's using ebay as his tool... |
Re: yenko duece looking for dollars.
What would be a "reasonable" price for this car, considering the current market? I know little about Yenko Deuces but the current high bid on ebay seems to be approaching, what I would have thought, the market value; maybe $145k? As an example of how publications can be misleading, I was looking at a 2006 collector car "price guide" last night that had the deuce at a max of $38K!!!

Re: yenko duece looking for dollars.
Joe,
You are absolutely correct! I guess I did not look as close as you. I am fortunate BigChevyDaddy sold me a very nice original for my car. I am not certain of what the market will bare for a Duece but the higher it goes the happier I become. Lets all keep our fingers crossed B/J auction continues to keep the value of these cars strong. Richard. |
Re: yenko duece looking for dollars.
I am always happy to hear when a fellow collector gets a car for what he feels is a fair price and congratulate you on your purchase. I am interested in a nice, original, documented deuce but get too many conflicting price ranges. If you ever want to sell yours keep me in mind.

I think those are Marlin's.

Re: yenko duece looking for dollars.
When I was 7 my aunt gave my brother and me some spray paint for Christmas... (what the hell was she thinking?) well we painted the restored frame to a 40 Ford of my dad's then I sprayed my brother's face silver... that is where it ended!

Re: yenko duece looking for dollars.
I do not think that is the right shifter in the duece... it is supposed to be a round bar GTO bench seat handle on a 69 Z shifter body... The GTO handle would have been a round bar with the flat in it that had Hurst stamped in it. That handle is flat all the way...
Damn I need to read the post all the way through.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif |
Re: yenko duece looking for dollars.
