I believe Kurt has had his hand on a few of Clill other rides as well...I followed the build of this car, and finally saw it at the Martin "Drag Week" stop...if you had the stones, you could make back a pretty good chunk of the purchase price by hustling folks at the track, it's that well done. The thing looks crusty, but oh so perfectly crusty! And low 9s to boot... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif

If you go to the Lateral-G.net site...there are some videos of the Nova burning out all the way down the track...Charley definitely know of this guy...but then again, is there anyone Charley doesn't know? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Here's the looooong burnout

Ha !!! Joe Nova. Yes I know the car well. I had it here when it was a 6 cylinder powerglide. Wheel 2 Wheel did the twin turbo conversion on my Camaro. I have to say that the Ebay ad could be alot better. That car is certified to run 8's but they are not showing you all the work that went into the car.

That car was the hit of Power Tour this year.

looked the car over good at the SEMA show and thought to myself, this thing is absolutely the ultimate sleeper. Right down to the seat covers and gauges in the glove box and hidden roll cage, the only give away was the screws in the rear wheels. The car is a lot more than just a big motor, there is a link to explain the car, I would have just pasted the whole bio on the car in the ad. Cool car for sure.

My friend Mark bought it. I think it was 1500.00.

They say in the ebay ad that it ran the 2006 Power Tour without incident ... I suppose they forgot about the problem (I think in the valve train) which occurred in Harrisburg, PA. I saw the car there, they were working on the engine and were having parts overnighted to the hotel so that it could make the rest of the tour.

Either way, neat car with gobs of horsepower!

That car is just the OPPOSITE of what "Pro-Street" cars were in the '80s. Fairgrounds cars with beautiful engines, paint, graphics, chassis, interiors............only none of them actually RAN good at all (if they even started at all)!!

I think the concept is very cool for someone who wants to imagine he's still back in 1970 or so with the baddest sleeper in existance, but as for today, I'd still rather have a good looking car. The days of midnight street racing with a dumpy looking car for money are over. If we could go back, it is certainly the car we'd all want to drive in to the local cruise spot and choose our next victim. It's a car that would be the perfect "best a sleeper could have been back then" car for that purpose, but as I said, it's only an image of the ultimate sleeper we can imagine in the past. As for today, I feel that it has no purpose. When we drive into the same cruise spot, I'd think most would prefer a nice looking car as well. We're no longer trying to fool anyone to putting an extra "C" note in our pocket.
That's just my own personal opinion. I do recognize the expert engineering work that went into it though. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

The car would be easy to take apart, do the paint and interior.

Come on Charlie, that would turn into a 6 month project and you know it!

BUT it would be a much better car when done https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: "Charley" ...New ride for 2007 Power Tour

I don't know, Verne. If a guy just wants to go out and get some attention and blow a few minds, I think you're better off leaving it as-is. To have the same visual impact that is has now as a SuperBeater, you'd have to go all out on paint, body, and interior. And once you did an ISCA level job on the cosmetics, would you really want to do full length burnouts or take it to the burger stand? Not that I don't like pretty cars, but if you do an average restoration on this car ($5K to 8K paint, new repro interior, etc) it just becomes another nice Nova (albeit with an extraordinary drivetrain). I'd be in the "as-is" category of buyers.

As a former owner of Jim Hughes' old 11-second turbocharged '72 Nova which looked all the world like a granny car with a set of Rally wheels on it, I believe there is still fun to be had on the "walk softly and carry a Really Big Stick" side of the hobby:)
